I've always been told when your truck is in the shop your essentially put out of service by Mercer and not allowed or supposed to book any loads until your keys are back in your hand...

How did they give you a $9800 total for the bill when it isnt even done yet?

I am with you on this one I have been broke down and worked it out with the customer to deliver on a later date but I’ve always been put out of service so I can’t book any other loads

Always plan for the worst case scenario. It's going to cost more than $9800 and it's going to take longer than your told.

I was once broke down in the middle of a load for more than a week. I was lucky it was a load of hummers going to the National Guard. When I called them, they said it was fine and to just keep in touch,

On the other end of that: I've hooked up to several trailers for guys that had broken down and when I delivered the load, the receiver was very unhappy that the load was late.

It all depends on the agent, the shipper and the receiver. My guess is Mercer will try to get someone to re power the load.

Mercer knows some things are out of your control, but the guy that owns the load may not see it that way.

As others have said the problem is thst you booked another load before being certain the truck was ready to go. That was stupid and you should know better. They won't cancel your contract over it, but its gonna take a while to rebuild trust with louisville and the agents.
