blind driver , I got told once in springfield , mass that iced tea was out of season. I asked if they had hot tea, she said yes, I said bring me pot which she did. then I asked for a glass of ice, she brought it, I said wait here just a second, I poured in some sugar and added the hot tea. then told her to tell whoever ran the place that it was back in season.
its a communist conspiracy I tell yaDrtro Thanks this. -
I guess it wasn't tea leaf hunting season or something

I clearly understand what being mercerised means,be patient and wait till next day if I have to but let me explain how thats not a good idea and please correct me if im wrong.me and you both unloading in cleveland on monday I book a heavy tarp load going to chicago paying 2.5 amile loading the same day u wait till tomorrow grab a piece of cake load to chicago paying 2.8.obiously u made more money by saving fuel and a better rate and worked less but you lost a day and im gonna be empty before you in chicago and I will be getting a sweet load coming back.the key here is staying one or two loads ahead in a good area.the other scenario is we both going to boston instead of chicago again my chances of getting out of mass are better than yours.the only time I had to sit was in orlando cause the crane didnt show up til next day.im just saying your way is not the only way so dont be giving advice to new guys like you know it all.i dh from miami to chattanooga and still avereged 2dollars a mile for the whole trip to nyc.i didnt reinvent the wheel but I know what a load of produce from ga to manhattan pays during the high season,I fix my own equipment and how to get a good deal on a truck or a trailer.also I didnt pretend I know everything,I just know about trucking in the 21 century.you tell things like they are facts that cant be wrong.i think you just arguing just to argue and you not paying attention to what im saying .I drive a blue t2000 kenworth in case we cross paths cause im looking for free dinner. The Great 1 and Kevin horn Thank this.

Wow I take a week off and miss all the fun!!!

and you bet if I can wait a day and load a no tarp to Chicago for .30 more a mile vs ta 8 foot tarp the same day, that's what I will do every time. and I will still get a sweet load coming out.
I also would do the same thing from Chattanooga to to nyc. I will bust nyc wide open, used to do a regular reefer run of chicken to nyc with 18 drops in broooklyn , queens and the Bronx. and you misinterpret what I say about sitting ,
I usually don't sit either, I am usually preplanned 2 to 3 loads ahead, what I said is wait til next day instead of taking a substandard load just to be taking a load , it the thing meets your per mile criteria by all means take it.
I am by no means advocating sitting every time you unload, but if the loads available late in the afternoon aren't the best in the world, its best to wait til the next day , especially if you have a high board position, if you are down the list a ways it might be best to take the best available and ride with it.
mercerized doesn't mean waiting til the next day, it means optimize your revenue while running the least amount of miles.
and if we load to boston, your chances aint one bit better than mine, cause I know the freight sucks out of there and I am gonna book the first thing offered that doesn't go to a worse place, cause you can guarantee I didn't go to boston for chicken feed.
and all I said in that post you quoted was running your own authority will suck you dry quickly if you pay out all the fees and lease trailers etc like you spelled out.
and I drive a blue t600 , and I do like to argue. its a bit like wrestled a pig in the mud, after a while you figure out the pig likes it.
just hang around here a while and you will forget all about that authority business.
I may have got you and gitrdun45 confused in my reply also.truckon, flatbed22 and whoopNride Thank this. -
yeah if we aint got you to fight with, we just fight amongst ourselves.truckon and whoopNride Thank this.

well, I follow up one bone headed move with another. after I drop tomorrow in long island, I'm loading out of Jersey for ky. 25k lbs for 1.75. not very good but gets me back to a good area, and I made a killing on the front haul. but then in my ultimate wisdom, or rather lack of, I accepted a load for Friday going to Laredo. I'm such a moron sometimes.
-
It depends what the load to Laredo pays.
I've been with Mercer since February and haven't gone to Texas
I have a big disadvantage because I work for a contractor. I only get 30%, but I have plans to be i my own truck this Spring :crossesfingers: -
spyder you are moving, you will still avg over 2 a mile for the turn. when ya get to Laredo, you know it wont be killer rates, just take the first 1.50 load and get the heck out of doge and live to fight another day, you can sit in Laredo for a week and it will be about the same.
now i know you know what i mean
