The way I read it, and I may be wrong, was she represented herself as a carrier, not the carrier that originally had itthaistick Thanks this.
-
I'll have to reread it too, but I thought she posed as the carrier, then posed as a broker to another carrier???
That's a fairly common scam. And one that involves, getting from fuel advances from the original broker... -
its not double brokering (illegal), its co-brokering (legal)
-
Co-brokering is when the brokers split the commission, the rate to the hauling carrier is unaffected. That's not what's happening here.
LS is probably the most common that I've seen. A load will hit the board paying above average rates, comes down and then reappears under a different broker, paying a lower rate then previously.
This is why some brokers refuse to do business with LS. They aren't the only ones that do it, but they're so big with so many agents doing it that they stand out. And if you run one of these loads, they will insist that you represent yourself as LS, not as a separate carrier pulling a LS load.
The big firms, (TQL, CHR, etc...) don't care, as long as the freight gets picked up.RStewart Thanks this. -
What are you looking to get an update on?
-
Freight? Maybe?

Yes, exactly what @PoleCrusher said. It's double brokering when the original broker and/or shipper don't know it's happening. I already got LS in trouble on accident. They double brokered a load to me and the original broker called to make sure I got loaded. I didn't know what was going on and I'm not going to lie for anyone. LS called the guy I'm leased to screaming that I was trying to take their customers. Lol. LS tells me that I need to tell people from now on that I'm working for them since I basically am if I broker a load through them. I told him I don't work for him in any capacity and I'm not going to tell anyone that I do. The San Antonio agent is bad about double brokering loads. I won't call on a LS load unless they have a good rate posted.PoleCrusher Thanks this.

First, I'm not offended by this comment. I did take the lunch counter one personally, and apologize as well for my retort.
Second, the fact you can get around it doesnt change the fact that it's illegal. There are ways to beat every system.
Third, you would be correct, I've not run under my own numbers, but my point wasnt an emotional response based on how I may or may not have been affected, it was strictly on the legality of double brokering.PoleCrusher Thanks this. -
Just kinda curious if i made a mistake coming here. Was loading today at a place where ive picked up several times already. Talking with LS next to me. He told me what his rate was to haul the same tying i was getting. I called B S. He showed me his rate con on his computer. I mean W T F?
I think i may have some hard decisions to make here in the near future
