When you have to deadhead 300-500mi on the east coast and midwest to find a halfway decent load.. That signifies there is a major problem they have lost a absolute enormous amount of freight..

Because in my case, it's so bad that I cannot afford to move the truck. If I had the cash on hand to make a transition these stickers would have been peeled already.

"Be patient", they said, "Freight will turn around soon," they said. And I listened like a ####### instead of quitting the first week like everyone else in my orientation did.

I hear that I delivered thursday morning 0500 and here I sit for a 4 day weekend... Anything I could of deadhead too would just take me to a dead area...

Sitting till Monday morning for a load I gotta dh 300 miles for...

Had my MVR ran by another company today... A week or two longer here for me and I'm gone...

I talked with Mercer today to see what I have to do when i walk and the lady confirmed the amount of trucks leaving here has been enormous...

Maybe I gotta move to Louisville so I get those 600 mile turns with 0 deadhead ... LMFAO...

This guy has been here 4 months but has already built lasting relationships with agents and customers... Everyone else has just been doing it wrong.....

I'm wondering what recruiter this guy is? LOL

I don't know what part of the east coast you are located, a 500 mile radius is a pretty huge area. I have more work offered to me than I can handle right now, booked all through next week, and all my loads are 25 to 150 miles with a maximum around 100 mile deadhead, and at the rates these loads pay that deadhead is well compensated for. I have to ask what qualifies as a "decent" load, and what don't you do, where don't you go, do you refuse to tarp, etc? I just cannot believe that amount of deadhead is possibly required. For me that would be deadheading from the Philadelphia area to Cincinnati for a "decent" load. C'mon, tell us the rest of the story? There are quite a few of us that work local/regional in this area and everyone is, and has been, working steadily. I think for all the people starting with such negative attitudes it just carries on into how things work out, as the old saying goes .... "If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're probably right."

No company is perfect especially in this industry, and some people are not a fit for a specific company. That being said, if Mercer, or Landstar, or any other company does not suit your needs, just move on and everyone quit whining already ... geez .... drivers have become like toddlers with their constant whining around here the last year or so.

No worries, they'll have two more full classes in orientation this week. All they need is a couple idiots like me to stick around thinking they can make it work. That way they can keep running their 20th century company and not be bothered with changing anything.

Art Vandelay and JonJon78 Thank this.

Can we get the truth on here just once? One time please.

Been here 4 months and has built such great relationships with the customer that they must be calling Mercer requesting you... Gotcha!!!

When Mercer calls you saying you've been accepted to the greatest show on earth ask them a couple of questions...

Ask them why do they need orientation twice a week for such a fantastic company?

Why do so many drivers leave Mercer?

How much freight is copy and paste from CHR load board to Mercers?

If the money is so great why does the lot at Mercertown USA look like a salvage yard and then when ya go inside it resembles a homeless shelter?

Why is the FMCSA rating for Mercer one of the worst in the industry?
