Not all freight making it to the board is something I have a serious problem with. Before signing on, we were told that agents weren't allowed to play favorites, and every load must run the board.

And I for one am far from being a high roller, I figure what the top earners make in two months I make in a year. I take weeks off at a time, work a few days when I want to, or when good loads come up. If you want to earn what i do then you'll probably go bankarupt. I went two years at the minimum of one load every 120 days just to not lose my contract as a family member slowly gave in to cancer. Yet somehow good money management let me make truck payments and house payments while being about $25K negative truck earnings each year. I have other ventures besided my truck, but it is what I like to do. I also treat it as a business not a job.
And a lot of loads I do get are called in near the end of the day. Mercer should lose the load because it has to run the board, what is it 8 minutes per driver, and they shipper closes in 60 minutes? There are also customers I have dealt with that sometimes request me to do a load and will wait a day or two for me to be available. Do not underestimate the value of building relationships based on quality of service. Most customers only care about price, but those who want service will pay for it. Almost all my loads are local or short regional, it is a rare thing, like right now, that I am out for three nights.
I figure that those who maintain a negative attitude get negative results, and those with a positive attitude get positive results. Find a way to make things work, or find more things to complain about and find excuses, everyone has both options to choose from. If Mercer is not a good fit, then leave. Not every driver is a good fit for every company, that's just how it is. Find what works.thaistick, 379_largecar, Razorwyr and 2 others Thank this. -

In fact, I think in order to get a job @ Mercertown, they give a test, to see how often and how well an applicant lies.
Score 90-100, recruiter.
Score 80-90, coordinator.
Score 70-80, coordinator trainee.
Score 60-70, safety, logs, insurance, etc...
Below 60, recommend CDL school, go learn to be a better liar and reapply.cke, Speed_Drums, 2CAN and 1 other person Thank this. -

I really am trying to understand you sir. Why do you put quotes around deuce? You said your bike is way better than mine and I am cool with that. I love all motorcycles and have had many different types. My favorite of all time was an old triumph that was fatty as all get out but it was fun. My deuce is my favorite Harley I have owned and I am proud of it.
Why are you negative. I never said I was a high roller. My truck is paid off. So is my trailer. So is my house. And my farm. They only bills I have are property taxes and running costs. My kids see me a lot. I enjoy my down time and don’t have to run everyone else down to make myself feel like some big shot. People used to come to this thread to get a real feel for Mercer before they sign on. I received great information from here. You just make everything look horrible. So that in turn makes “good” business owners stay away. So then, (I am assuming) Mercer has to lower their standards and lease on sub par truck and inexperienced drivers/business owners in order to maybe retain a few that are able to learn and become successful.
Maybe sir, if you didn’t know everything and were WILLING to listen to some folks who are doing well in all most parts of their life you could see the brighter side of the industry and the company YOU chose to be a part of (Proverbs 12 verse 15). Be more positive neighbor it will help you in all parts of your life.
I’ll leave you with this mr. Jon Jon, I will honestly pray for you tonight that you might become a more positive person and that things will take a turn for the best for you and that you will become a better person and not try to demean your neighbors. Love thy neighbor as thy self-Jesus
For anyone that is trying to find out if Mercer is a good company to lease to don’t pay this man much attention. If you stop at a truck stop or a customer and see a Mercer truck, talk to them get a true view of it before you nix it because of a few bad apples that spend a lot of time on Facebook or ttr. Feel free to send me a message and I will answer your question to the best of my abilitiesmosrock, roshea, Big John Classic HQ and 10 others Thank this.
