I came from a company ive been at for 9 1/2 years. Last year i did $245k on my 1099. They dispatch like Landstar with agents and running mostly spot market. I came here in Jan and am happy here. I have slowed down, still make good money, and just seem to enjoy my life a bit more.
That being said, i dont have the pressures most have...my house, truck, bikes, boat, pickup are all paid for. So i can afford to be picky, however i still take $1.50 per mile to get me out of an area i was stupid enough to go to. Some drivers cant afford to do that.

It's not rocket science picking loads. You obviously have to have loads to pick from though. When those loads are lacking it is the reason you have drivers leaving left and right.

You cant self dispatch when you've got nothing available to dispatch yourself on.

When your in Youngstown, Ohio and the only loads within 200 miles are Agent CCC's sit in her pajamas copy&pasted from the couch of her home CH Robinson cheap, heavy, tarped loads of roofing material out of Cleveland, ya got problems.

If even 10% of what you've claimed on this thread was true there wouldn't be a single contractor here. Sure at 11 PM the board looks dead but at 9am there will be a dozen good loads in that area. We got 4 different agents with good paying freight there.

The last time you tried to insinuate I was lying I gave you all the info you needed to verify the rate including the agents name.

Catch a ride up the road about 15 miles. Cheaper and nicer! don't stay at the hotels in town not the best area. Plus in town they wanted $650 for 7 days.. I Went up to locust grove to the RedRoof inn and got a room for $450 for 7 days. walmart and food near by. Just request a 2 queen bed room. The room i first had sucked the water pressure in the shower was just horrible so i asked for a new room with a tub lol
