Should be rolling early next week. Getting my turbo gone thru. New head with new oil pump and all the other good parts. Hopefully this will end all my problems. My dpf filter is also getting a beautiful cleaning so it doesn't clog anymore lol

    JonJon78 Thanks this.

I'm driving an MX13- 455/1650, and really like it so far, but, it only has 28,000 miles on it. Time will tell.

Cummins is a easy engine to work on :p Couldn't pay me enough to drive a MX engine

Well, it's not mine, so I get paid if it runs or not. It seems the EPA17 MX engine is a lot better than the others. The truck is almost 1 1/2 years old. I got it in April with 9k on it, and have been the only driver since. It's been a really good engine and gets good fuel mileage. I'm impressed with the grunt it has also.

If it holds up I would consider getting one, if I am ever stupid enough to buy another truck at my age.

The n14 was easy to work on. No modern engine is easy to work on.

For simple things like oil change, overhead, common replacement parts, this MX is really laid out well. Any ding-a-ling should be able to run the overhead in less than an hour, same for oil and filters change.

From what I had heard, I didn't think much of them until I started driving this one. Like I said, the low miles is no indicator of future reliability. This is in a dump truck, so there is idle time also. I always set the idle up to 950 if I'm going to idle more than a few minutes. The hour meter was showing high 1400 hours a couple of weeks ago.

I keep up with the hours and have the service performed on the severe duty scale by hours instead of miles with what we do. Has had one oil change, and not too far off for the second. I will probably do this one myself, and I do all the greasing on the truck. If I'm going to drive it for a while, I'm going to keep it up like it is mine.

Boss wanted the dealer to do the first service. When I went to pick the truck up I found I believe 12 grease fittings not greased. I went back into the office and had them get a tech to go over it again with me pointing out the fittings, and this at a KW dealer. Since then I just do it myself as I get paid by the hour to do anything I want to it.

That's what happens when you don't warm things up, pistons and liners expand at different rates.
