A good friend of mine at mercer yesterday pu a load in las vegas and had the load strapped down and the bills already signed by him and in his possession when he got word from the the agent that there was a screw up and that load was supposed to go to another carrier so they told him to undo all straps so they could unload the load and mercer told him he’s only getting $150 for it...he lost reload in slc on the back side of that load due to that and such...then had to dh from Las Vegas to tooele ut to pick up..thats after dh from SoCal to vegas to pick up that slc bound load...he and his wife are ticked off about this mess...

jsnell Thanks this.

I'd have a tough time with that situation. BoL is signed, legally that load is now his. Somebody else screwed up, not his fault. Let the other carrier fight it out to get paid.

I agree with you but he should’ve got more like $350 for unused truck -
On my trailer, ur paying me to take it off. Truck ordered not used, $500 sounds good to me. Another reason I don’t answer phones while loading. I return all calls when I’m rolling

Wow, I've seen some outrageous "fines" for late deliveries, failure to make calls, send in POD and such, but this is totally outrageous. Who in their right mind would even accept these loads? Why would any company/carrier consent to these provisions? I've already talked to drivers at other companies that have seen this before. All these 'contracts' with the fines and fees, yet carriers still cannot get detention, or what we really need, hourly pay for the entire time drivers/trucks sit at shippers and receivers.

What should happen when we arrive to unload on time, and aren't unloaded within 2 hrs, for any reason whatsoever, is we leave, reschedule delivery for another day, and charge $1000 a day for storage of their freight.
The reason we don't, is because Joe moron down the street will gladly sit at the customer all day, losing money, just to have a load.
