I had really hoped the eld mandate was going to help by restricting everyone’s time which should have made time more valuable. Instead crybabies made such a stink that we now have new rules with flexibility (flexible but firm enough to slip up your backside without lube) so here you are more hours to give away. It amazes me how high of a percentage of people in this business can’t grasp the concept that time is a finite resource and should be treated as such.
Y’all are just in the wrong part of the industry. On the tanker side, we get paid after 2 and it’s never fought. Hell even CH Robinson pays detention and will add it to the rate con.
Everyone is brokering them out this year. UPS, FedEx and USPS are slammed with work and scrounging for trucks to get everything moved.
A lot of locations have mostly solo runs, shorter hauls but out and back they'll still push you to your limit on hours. Loads are dispatched as if you arrive for work with a full set of hours, no provision for having to drive to the terminal from wherever you are resting.
