How much do those countertops weigh? Usually on the board quite heavy so I can't touch them. Though some loads are just posted high but can't take the chance.

I've pulled them as low as 38k and as high as 46k.

Good answers to my job site question. Yes, after the fact, everyone I talked to within Mercer said it's our decision, our truck, and they would back me up on my decision. That was folks in LKY and several agents that I regularly haul to job sites for. I've gone to off road locations for years, never really a problem. There have been places where I knew I'd lose traction, but they had a dozer there to drag us in or out as needed, no problems. I have one of those on a youtube video up at a gas site in NE PA. This was the first time I'd dealt with a place that I thought might be a problem. Not going into the whole story but the Mercer driver who came out ahead of me told me he barely made it in, and the conditions were worse for me as they were pumping water out and it was settling at the base of a steep dirt incline we had to go through.

As far as having someone sign that they'd be responsible for any damages, tows, etc., I feel that would mean very little. Unless it was the general manager at the site, or a company owner of one of the sub-contractors, it is unlikely the person signing would actually have the authority to do so. Not impossible, but I wouldn't count on them paying the repair bill were it to come to that. Let's say I've learned another hard lesson in this business, and you can bet this won't happen to me again. I was going to be getting a clutch next time I got home, this just moved that up and put me at a shop that is going to cost me about double what my mechanic at home would charge. At least I have a relative's house to stay at.

Is this going to be a regular load we need to avoid.? My truck gets stuck in it's own tracks.

I had on water tower pieces once. The guy ahead of me got stuck trying to get out and after seeing that I told them I'd back in just enough to get my truck off the main road and they could bring the crane to me. They said they wouldn't do that if I didn't go to the site I would get charged for not delivering. Called Louisville and the agent they went to bat for me the crane was brought to me and got unloaded on the shoulder of the road had LE there directing traffic and everything.

Sad we have to be the bad guy sometimes, but we are not just drivers, we are the pilot in control, the one who has to take the responsibity.

Absolutely not! I've seen guys with trucks your size bottom out and crush genrator boxes and aero fairings going into sites, you are not well suited to any off road stuff at all.

Yeah, or you end up with a used-to-shift like I have right now ....

Finally got pulled into the shop yesterday, should be working again next week. What a way to start the new year.
