It's called Bestpass and the licensing dept can help you get set up on it but you still have the account in your own name and have to replenish it via credit card every month to maintain a minimum balance like you do now.

Since you pay fuel tax at the pump, does Mercer reimburse it quarterly?
-
do a bit more research on ifta and how fuel tax works -

TE=WolfHound2/27;3772704]I know how it works. But when someone tells me they pay the fuel tax, I would think that means they pay all of it. Not a big deal, I just want to understand how it works. I am considering going to Mercer.[/QUOTE]
Alot of carriers make more money on accessorials than the do from you pulling their freight.
The majority of carriers give creidt for 5 mpg on fuel tax, so, it's a money maker for them.
So, if you by all your fuel in Indiana they really pound you on fuel tax. I've seen guys end up owing 3-4 hundred bucks a quarter because of this. -

Sorry, kinda a new at this forum stuff... I mostly copy the mail...
Mercer doesn't charge you if don't by enough fuel Iin the the states you run to cover you fuel tax deficit -

For Indiana, Ky, and Ohio, the fuel tax at the pump is only partial paid at the pump. Like Indiana is 14cents per gallon at the pump and additional 11 surcharge paid via IFTA. So no matter where you buy and run, your gona owe IFTA buty Mercer pays it and encounges you to buy at the cheapest place all the time even if it's Indiana.
Guys feel free to correct my numbers if they've changed since I've had my own authority.
Also Mercer gets us a pretty good discount on fuel purchased. I'm thinking it averages around 30cents per gallon depending on where you get fuel.
More Mercer Koolaid for me Please. LOL -
So we are better off to buy in the cheaper states like Missouri and to run away from Flor-I-DUH??
If I were to do something crazy (or smart) like buying my own truck this year, what expenses can I count on from Mercer? Such as insurance and other stuff I don't notice due me working for a contractor.
