The insurance is cheap, and no deductible on animal strikes, and free windshields. You do not have to wait to get empty to get another load booked. Nine times out of ten I have another load booked before I even get 500 miles down the road. Never heard of a release number before.

was it the 2.05 a mile that you didnt like? or was it the getting the next load with a first unloaded choice board? one thing to remember is the difference of running authority and being leased.

and you can book loads ahead of time, i do it all the time, in fact one to two weeks ahead of time in most cases. what happens is this many loads are put out for several companies , and the first one who gets a truck, gets the load. then what happens is they see all the trucks delivering houston, they will call them in order of predicted unloading time and offer the load, if turned down its offered to next driver in line. you can also go online, see a load and commit to it and get the laod in advance.

it isnt where you cant even pick a load til you are unloaded, however that being said, if you call in unloaded before you are unloaded, and get caught, you will be terminated.

to me its better than a wild wild west situation of where guys are booking with a "whoever gets on the laptop first" situation.

and consider frliner remarks. he made money there while he was there. and i know that californis freight is slow coming back east, so i dont go there unless the pays enough to deadhead out and i want to visit my former stepfather in phoenix.

and in my almost 2 years the buddy system hasnt been a problem, and i dont get micromanaged at all. my coordinator will occasionally say are you sure you want that load there isnt much coming out of there, i just say yeah , i know . then after i reload she says, you either the smartest guy in the world or the luckiest, i say its a little of both and time in the saddle.

as i have said on here many times , every place isnt a fit for some, you just got to find a place that fits you personally.

and a better comparison bayou, on the beaumont loads, would have been what a mercer lease driver would get, compared to a landstar lease driver. those loads were paying lease drivers well over 3 dollars a mile at mercer

i think the release number comes in when a load is brokered which is what bayou is used to doing.

fact is today many companies allow agents to broker loads before they are offered to lease trucks, the agent actually makes more money this way.

i know that how it was done where i was before i came to mercer. mercer does a central dispatch where basically everything goes thru louisville and you dont deal with agents getting your loads.

so you get 85 dollars more than a landstar lease driver, how much is that 7 percent or so more?

i would hope the rate brokered to you would be higher than a lease op with landstar.

I'm glad your happy chasing the best price.I did that a few years back till I found Mercer.
We are so happy here at Mercer, they would have to fire us to get us to leave. They keep things simple and they pay is good. Probably not getting rich, but we are making a good profit with very little stress.
