perhaps you should go back and read some of your posts in the past in this mercer thread alone. you are quite often critical.
and no one was cutting down an owner op, the guy simply stated it had to be embarrassing to run out of fuel going to inspection, which it probably was, it is anytime that happens. but I also added there is no doubt someone there helped him out and got him going.
and as for the comment on inspections, yes I do maintain my truck, it is my way of making a living. the comment was directed toward guys who it is obvious never do any routine maintenance, have problems that are obvious by just walking by the truck.
the fact is, if you have got to that point you are doing something wrong. if you get to the point you have to choose between a tire or making the mortgage, things have been going bad for a while, you have to be able to recognize that before it ever gets to that point.
have you ever wondered why some guys never seem to find a carrier that seems to work out for them, yet at each of these carriers there are may many successful o/o's. the keep looking for that carrier, when what they need to do is look at themselves for the reason its not working. most wont do that and keep going from carrier to carrier.
let me ask you this why did you lease to Malone for 3 weeks instead of getting your authority first?
but I will tell ya this, if I had saw the guy run out of fuel, I would have got fuel from my truck for him and provided enough for him to get to truckstop once he leased on.
I aint heartless, I have been where hes at, I learned from it.Lucar and Flightline Thank this. -
Flightline, I hope you will be happy since I'm waiting for parts at a ta shop to fix my air dryer instead of sleeping. Thanks a lot buddy. Lol
Flightline Thanks this. -
my first year as an o/o was a nightmare, truck broke down 3 times in first month costing me thousands of dollars in towing and repair bills just to find the problem(loose fuel selenoid wire)carrier that didnt care(priority transportation out of farmingdale NY,they went out of business)and of course lack of experience on my part(truck not starting due to cold weather, not knowing the going rates for different freight areas).when i did my taxes i cleared 19k before the irs took their piece of the pie and i have a wife and a newborn so lor of times i had to choose between an oil change or a cart full of groceries. -

this may sound as a cinderella story but what i've been thru made me eager to try and help every new o/o avoid the mistakes i've made and not be a victim to shady truck dealers(like american truck group in gulgport ms where i gor my first truck) or carriers that takes advantage of their drivers
truth is we are our own worst enemy, some of the 0/0 like the people you talking about fail to maintain their trucks, haul cheap freight, change jobs so often and cut corners just to get by and at the end we all have to bear the consequences(eobr, hrs of service, low rates).that being said i like to thank you and everybody who's keeping up his truck and doing his job well. -
Winter time is rough on them air dryers. Last winter my dryer bit me also. -
