but it does when you swing the doors and back into a grocery warehouse dock. yesterday , 15 minutes to unstrap, 10 minutes for 2 lifts with the forks and I am done.
And chances are you were greeted with a smile, and left with a thank you from them for bringing the product. vans wouldn't be so bad if you could never load food or general merchandise.
I was at Mercer back in 2010. Sold my truck and now work in ND oil field hauling crude oil. Thinking of coming back to Mercer and "doing it again" our on the open road. I spoke with some Mercer drivers last year: they were complaining about the rates (sucking) and such. What's the "general" feel about Mercer these days? Is everyone getting all riled up about e logs and CARB? Should I stay put? I know none of you at Mercer make close to what a crude oil company driver makes up here in the "patch" home every night money wise ....however, being out on the open road going places and talking with a diverse crowd is nice also. Aside from taking a pay cut and having to buy another truck.....what's the draw backs these days? Thanks in advance.....
you must have spoke to the ones delivering in north Dakota and deadheading out, lol. me ? I am a happy man. wouldn't think of going anywhere else. and depending on cost of living, the money may not be that far apart.
One of my friends made 300K as a company driver up here last year. I only made 142K. I own a house, mortgage is under 1500 a month. Home every night. I work about 65 hours a week. 11 to 12.5 hrs a day. When you consider I don't own a truck and don't have to pay for a thing (fuel, repairs, etc) AND I sleep in my own bed every night, there is a definite difference....however...the call of the open road is very strong! You know the same disease: diesel fuel in your veins!...there is no cure. I remember my best time in trucking owning a large house sleeper truck and running with Mercer. If I sold my place (and made a nice profit) I'd buy another large house sleeper and do it again with Mercer, hence the thread: testing the waters and see if Mercer is something I MAY want to consider again. How's the e log / carb issue going over there at Mercer?
300K as a company driver. In ND, I might believe half of that hauling oil. I use to haul oil in Texas and with the right company, 80K to !20K
flightline, I am unloading 40 MILES AWAY AT NOON, reloading in Louisville at 5pm, see ya at the ranch tomorrow, if ya going to be around tomorrow night, lets eat dinner after I load.
