Thank you all for your responses. especially the guys that don't wear the rose colored glasses. Just a lot of Mercer driver like grossing under 150K with a trailer lease. I guess. (I own it, recruiter said we won't lease you a step deck.) First year I let the coordinator lead in the load board dance. lost 40k compared to before I bought the trailer. The day I posted the first thread I had bumped 800 miles. First 400 to get to a dispatched load which was pulled while I was in transit. next 400 was to get to a load that was "real". No truck called, not used pay, I was offered a different load from the shipper that would have taken me into a remote area. at 35 cpm less. or sit for 2 days for the original load. without layover pay. Now if you doing well sitting around for free and enjoying it. All to you man. I haven't jumped I do try to select better loads, $1.60 cpm never cancel. I'll let you drag 'em. Finally as far as threads go, though it was an old thread I did respond to a driver that asked is Mercer a good company. This is true, They are no better than any and no worse than the rest. They are not a great company.

no, don't think so, they are requiring new hires to have eobr, imagine the problems that would cause him.

well, to be honest , it aint much a feat to click on his name and check out 3 big old posts, and with avg 2,000 miles a week and 4 grand revenue a week, it isn't a hard life at all.

my glasses aren't rose colored, they are a shade of blue from having spilled grape Kool-Aid on them.

fact is we have all had a load or two cancel on us, you will have that no matter where ya go. it is just the nature of the beast. I have in fact gotten truck ordered not used , but fact is they cant get it unless the customer pays it.

and if the guy with a trailer lease grosses under 150k , then he is the one choosing the loads and is getting the results he plans for.

I have never turned my truck over to my coordinator, and you must have been out west if you were bouncing 400 miles to a load to begin with, then another 400 miles to another load. it just seems to me if you were bouncing 400 miles you were already in a remote area.

fact is , any load could cancel, that's something you need to keep in the back of your mind when you bounce a long ways, some of us have gotten smart and went to the 37 state fleet.

remember if ya keep ending up in bad areas, talk to the guy who is accepting the loads and getting you to bad areas, he will meet you at the mirror.

sometimes the 1.95 a mile load ends up being a far better deal than the 2.30 a mile load , all depends on where its going and what it is.

and I have to differ with you , mercer is a great company. but they can be no greater than the person who is leased to them.
