Actually painted the truck in the last few weeks before getting it reinspected.
It was a dark purple before. Quite ulgy but atleast they gave me enough time to make some money first. -
Paint jobs on trucks ain't cheap. Worse thing on my rig i need frame sand blasted and painted. It's all cosmetic stuff so hopefully they ain't nazi about it. I'll sure tell them about it before I end my current lease and put all my eggs in Mercers basket.

Cheap way to paint the frame: scrap and power wash what you can, then use undercoating spray cans available at most parts stores even walmart.
I've heard others just use paint cans on the body, cab, hood as Mercer doesn't require it to look pretty just not peeling, cracked or rusted.
The peeling was the problem on mine.
I painted mine myself and spent less than $500 on the materials.Jim837 Thanks this. -
Well if they don't want to see rust I got a lot of krylon to buy!

Anyone going to be in Louisville on Tuesday? I should get there Mon sometime, Tues morning at the latest. Already locked up my wallet in case Skateboardman shows up.
Bigdubber and Pound Puppy Thank this. -
I can't speak highly enough and say how satisfied I am with having made my decision to move to Mercer.
as I sat in orientation and things kept coming.. and coming.. I kept thinking "this is too good to be true" over and over..
I loaded out of orientation on wednesday afternoon to San Antonio, TX, delivered today and run empty to houston where I loaded to KS for monday Del, and then grab a good paying load going to cali. "yes cali"
this freight pre-planning has me smiling. 3 pops of over $2.XX a mile besides all the other perks (quite a few) a shirt and a hat.
if you haven't moved over.. don't think, if you know how to operate your business then this is where you need to be for as long as you need to lease your tractor to a company.
things are looking great and it may be too soon to tell but just the added amount of years of experience of the few drivers I talked to don't match any other carrier's I've ever researched. (unless all those guys were messing with me lol)Pound Puppy, Battle Born and Bigdubber Thank this. -
I waited until I was completely good before I terminated my lease at the previous company. That way if something didn't work at I would still have a lease.Jim837 and whoopNride Thank this. -
so have talked to mercer, like what they have had to say. only problem i have very little flatbed experience. 98% of my time has been pulling a tanker. so how is there van freight ? and after you lease on will they let you slowly move over into flat ? recruiter said he would check on it. would rather try flat as i got really bored pulling a box before, i.e. have to have a challenge in my job. thanks for any advice

I'm sure they will let you switch over to flat after pulling a van. But will loose any money you put towards a van trailer as you have to pay towards a trailer and I don't think they will give you any trade value since it's a lease purchase on the trailer.
