Can anybody tell me about the electronic logging system Mercer is implementing?
Most important question, are drivers able to manipulate it and change times around, put things where we want?
if I spend 4 hours getting loaded I put 3.5 of those hours in the sleeper later on and show .5 to load so I don't loose any time during the day.
Do they track you by this device and compare it to logs?

Fuel savings was my only mottive also.
I can say, my deadhead fuel economy has increased approx. 1 mpg per gallon for today. I look forward to seeing it loaded but going home for a week or so since the freight rates seem to be dropping back to normal.

that device is your log, but yes you can still put that time as off duty time or sleeper. but I thought at this point they were voluntary and not required. I don't have one.

    Jim837 Thanks this.

Recruiter told me new lease drivers will be on it and existing contractors phased in starting in sept. By new year all will be using it.

Gonna miss my loose leaf logs but if we can back up the wasted time at shippers after we stop later to pad the 10 hour break I'm good with it. Don't like to waste 3 or 4 hours then have to take a real 10 hour break later, not near as productive.

I don't know which system they use but on the quallcom the only line that can't be edited it the drive line. So yes you can go back and edit all other lines but there is still a record of the original log in the system. When I edited elongated before it will ask you for a reason ie "forgot to switch lines" etc. the only people who can edit the drive line are the system admins in the office. You should also have access to line 5 driving ( off duty driving) so the qcomm doesn't put you on the drive line for personal conveyance.
