Agreed hope to be with y'all buy spring

 

So about 3 weeks ago I back into an empty parking spot at the Pilot on I-90 in Murdo SD. I get out to check my load and notice guy next to me is leased to Mercer. He gets out to do the same so I strike up a conversation with him. He says he's heading to CA. I ask isn't that a dead area for Mercer, low paying loads coming out too? He says no so many guys won't go into CA that the freight is flowing like milk and honey going in and coming out, great rates too. He's recently switched from a flatbed to a step deck and says he has greatly increased his revenue. Recruiter tells me last week steps don't do any better in fact steps sit more than flats, fleet avg is $2.19 loaded and $1.86 all miles. Makes me wonder who's fibbing who?

 

Running a step, Ive not sat yet. Ive always been booked. Same rates as flats. There are loads I cannot haul with a step. It has not affected me yet. We will see when winter sets in. I think I will be ok as Im not afraid to run the NW during winter. But my revenue is no better than the guys running flat. It benefits me sometimes on O.D. loads and military loads. It pays a little better on those. But I think the driver was telling you a fat one.

 

Thanks pound puppy that's what I figured after reading thru this novel of a thread multiple times. I plan on leasing a flat once my application clears. Hey does Ferguson the guard cat ride with you?

Another Mercer parked across from me in Big Springs NE. Only 4 digit truck number on his big house western star must be an old timer.

 

yep with 4 digits, no doubt about it. and one other jim, if ya can handle all the grief we have given you on this thread you will do just fine here at mercer. you will do just fine.

 

haven't heard from kona911 on here since he said his headed to get his new ride...... must be to busy enjoying it to do an update ....

 

I was hoping it would be one of y'all from this thread skateboardman so I could buy breakfast. Looking forward to crossing over to the Mercer side. Just yesterday I told my outfit to expect a call from Mercer.

 

I'm sure Kona is playing like a pig in @@@@ right now.
