Ok maybe I was mixing up some of the lease purchase guys. Regardless, I had a legitimate question. Do you guys treat everyone looking at mercer to the same attitude?

    Anyway, I got my answers.

L.B. Ive only met one ir two stuck up old guys here. Everyone else has been great. If you ever end up at a shipper/receiver with other Mercer drivers, most will come help you strap tarp or unstrap untarp. Its like anywhere, ya always are gonna meet someone that rubs you the wrong way.

POPS, as far as that TMC truck. I would pass. You can buy used trucks at with half the miles for that price. At those high miles, you will be looking at an overhaul very soon after purchase. Not to mention other wear and tear items from that kinda mileage. Shop around, a lot of good deals to be found. Youre first truck doesnt have to be the large car. Sometimes its best to get a freightliner columbia or International to start off. They are inexpensive, cheaper to repair and parts are available everywhere. Just food for thought.

My first truck was a large car, but I got a sweet deal on it. After Celadon totaled it for me, I bought a used JB Freightliner. For the reasons mentioned above it went well. I traded it off on this one that I love.

I have a buddy that just picked up one he said it's the cleanest trucks he looked at, he said out of 40trucks five had never been smoked in he went up there twice before buying and said they even gave him the trucks vehicle maintenance report, he said it had rods and mains at 600,k miles and a new head at 920,000 turbo at 480,000 and both turbos at 900,000 it has just over a million. He told me they told him if he didn't like something about a truck he wanted just tell them and they would fix it.

My first truck was a Freightliner I gave $12,k for with 940,000 miles I drove that truck until 1.180,000 miles and started using a gal of oil every 1,500 miles I drove that truck three years and sold it for $10,000 than found a six year old Volvo 660 that had a Detroit 13/speed 373 rears best truck I ever had I picked it up for $27,500 with 680,000 miles drove it until 1.1/mi and dropped a valve I sold that truck blown for $8,500 next truck was a $12,500 from Ryder had 620,000 when I picked it up drove it four years sold for $18,500 with 980,000 miles. Now I'm in this W9 and don't get the fuel economy the others got have half the room and gave $41,000 and have spent $14,000 after buying it (injectors, alignment, seals, tires, ect) and after all that it don't make anymore money my first $12,k truck did.

I tell everyone starting out buy a nice cheap used truck make sure trucking is for you because it's not for everyone and cheap trucks are easy to sell.

Ive got a 2007 Pete 387 now. Gave 21k for it with 812k miles. Been pulling dry vans here for a year. That 379 caught my eye. I knew I shouldn't have stopped and looked at them. I know I'm looking at a rebuild soon. Got 932k on mine now.

If it's a good truck rebuild the motor and keep trucking....but than again you can still get almost what you gave for yours when you picked it up, just keep in mind a bad truck can really put you in a bind.

What are the specs on the flatbeds Mercer has for lease? (combo?, dump valve?, lift axle...ect)

Also how is flatbed freight into and out of Kansas City?
