12.7 non-egr engines are probably the best engines that I've driven in my 20 years. I have had a CAT C-15 6nz for the last 1.1 million miles (bought new). It has been dependable, other than the blown head gasket at 447000 miles (there was some defect or something, because many CAT's did this). It's been good before and after the repair. And will average 6.5 mpg in a 379 if driven correctly. I wish I had kept the '98 with a Detroit, even if I just parked it while I drove the new one. I know a guy that bought a used Shaffer truck and ran it up to 1.4 million miles. He just sold it for $7000. That old Shaffer truck would have made a nice donor truck for a Pete 389 glider.

kona, I got put oos service yesterday at Troutville,va scales. city cops doing inspections at va scales. dude couldn't get under tractor on creeper, all they then was bys ome miracle all 4 trl brakes out of adjustment. told if I knew how to adjust, I could do it and leave.

measured them all at 2 1/4 , amazing right? I put on some of those hickeys where ya can measure the stroke yourself and all was in spec. told I had it covered and I was on my way.

at least I was minus 40 on my mercer safety score
