I've been looking at the Truck Lite headlamps and they are reasonably priced and seem the best bet.
Do you have the model # you purchased? I have the newer Century that has the headlamp fastened with a Freightliner specific type of mount. Does yours mount with the outer clamp style ring or like the newer ones?

The older steel band around the outer edge. This directly replace any standard round sealed headlight with hi/lo beam 2 - light system.

I currently pull Van. Been at Mercer since May 2014. Revenue is not bad, hit a couple of $18K months but not consistent.
I want to go flatbed now, but Mercer does not have any trailers at this time. Use to pull for Lone Star out of TX.
Can anyone give me any info on Flatbed vs. Step Deck for as revenue and loads. I have pulled both and I know things slow down in the
Fall and Winter. But I would think they will slow down for all. Any info will be greatful! Thanks -
I hauled my first Step Deck Load with mercer Sept 5th, i haven't had any issues with staying loaded i completed Sept with 14k on EFS card so if u subtract 3k for bonus for Cali truck its still the best Net Month I've had since i became a Owner Operator, I've noticed they are about 2,000lbs heavier than a 48' Flat my Empty weight shot up to 34,500, the biggest challenge to me has been running with Closed Axle because of all the Bridge law here and there I haven't gone anywhere with it Spread plus once your loaded that's it you cannot slide the axle until your unloaded, I wish Mercer would have sold me this trailer with Load Levelers, I still haven't gotten a set yet. No Major Layovers if i do its only for the day i was unloaded, Oh if you get a new trailer like mine it makes hauling a Container a Breez they have built in container locks so just set it and go no tie down required
I did however (after my Headache in Cali loading a big Piece of Machinery and wound up loosing a day and 80 miles having to go back and have it moved) buy the AirWeigh System it is $1,300 Installed at K&L Trailer in Knoxville, and now i have Real Time Axle weights in the dash.
I enjoy my Step Deck don't think i'll go back Straight flat, its so nice to have a Tarped load close to the ground makes it so much easier to tie down -
Hey Juggalo: Did I see you on I-64 in Ill. earlier today?
-
I think you'll be surprised how much slower freight slows down in the winter for flatbed vs van. Enough to make a guy want a van just for winter.

Mercer presently has no trailers. So I will keep your advice in mind. Perhaps I may start around the end of Feb.

Thanks since Mercer presently does not have any trailers, may look at starting with a Step Deck at the end of Feb or so.
