To be honest I considered hiring him to be my codriver to do ups but I have no idea what would be involved in hiring a codriver just for the season

I thought about a 2nd truck but now just isn't the time

Get him to apply. If he is approved then he can come to work for you, or any other truck owner. In the meantime you can find out what you would need to do as the truck owner, (and I have no clue what that would be).

nope , not assuming that at all, I just know that's the only way I would add a driver unless I was married to the co driver. the guy just leased on and is still learning the system here, now wouldn't be the time really with winter coming. so he does ups season, then what?

but in answer , the hiring of the driver would be the same as you getting hired here at mercer, then its up to you to pay him, and set up accounts in order to pay his taxes and social security medicare and such. unless you are going to do the 1099 route and set yourself up for a irs audit.

like I said, stick to yourself for a while.

You would have to pay employee taxes (about 1/3rd of his earnings), workers comp. insurance which is about $10.10 for every $100.00 he makes and you'll have to have a safety program on file with regular meetings and so on and so on....big headache for one driver.

    Truckin Juggalo Thanks this.

You can't legally do a 1099 unless he is leasing the truck from you and paying his own way (fuel, tires, etc)

i been all over their website i called Odot, looked the rest of the northwest online all the northwest approves Nevada approved 10/29/14 here is the AutoSock Website
    http://www.autosock.us/

Scroll down to the bottom there's a clickable map of the united States i checked all the the north and northwest its approved i even called Odot, only 2 states had a Except and that was Cali and Montana, (California has approved the AutoSock as an alternative traction device to chains except if/when DOT determines that chains are required and no other traction device will suffice.) Montana has the same wording

Keep us posted on how they work. I read about them a while back, Im waiting to hear some feedback before I invest.

But seems a good deal, doesnt beat the tires or suspension up.
