That's what I'm talking about. I just don't understand that either. Nothing bad implied I just don't know what it means to be "number 1" on the board. I committed today and was accepted 3 and then accepted 4 and I was empty here on Tuesday morning in a high freight area.

Once it shows accepted then the load is yours just wanting to confirm with the customer.

And one day you will get old and worn out and look back wondering why you ran so hard when you could have made the same take home money on half the miles like us old farts.

When number one, your ahead of all other drivers, but not necessarly ahead of other companies.

You can be number 1 or 2 on some loads and 5th or 6th on others because of competing drivers have different preferences set.

I'm right there with ya man. I only worked five months last year. Still haven't pulled a load yet this year, I'm liking at the board and weather channel, thinking I might just take February off. Can't do that with a shiny new truck payment and ten thousand dollars in emission problems. As far as cali goes, in ten years I got one load that paid enough to go there. Once in ten years. Not good enough odds for me to purchase a new truck on. And wtf are 8 foot tarps?

Ok Lucar, now that I've had fun picking on your load choice, a serious thought, if I'm not mistaken your banner HAS to be on the rear of the trailer, not on the load like in that picture. Might wanna give Louisville a call or read that Lil green book just to be on the safe side.

    Lucar Thanks this.

I remember that, just last summer the guy is flat broke and not sure how he will pay the shop bill to get his truck out, and now a few months later he is a freaking expert and the rest of us that have been profitable for years are doing everything wrong. Freaking hilarious.

Enlighten me with your wisdom oh great ol' timer.
Picking on me? Please dear sir, bring a bit of shine to yer truck oh great super trucker. Don't need to work February? Good, am I envious? No, I'd go crazy sitting at home.. I guess you forgat love for the road.. stay home, drink, smoke, work on other junkers, I'll stay out running and "enjoying throwing iron" and putting miles on the gauge.. jeez, you missed out half the posts..
some guys like to eat cake, some like to eat the cake of the cake maker..
your logic is no logic for me. However I do wish good on you, and whether you went broke at a point or never had I don't give a rat's leg since it ain't got nothing to do with me.
Go back and re-read oh wise one, the information I've come to pass from my operation is not to your 40k lbs truck, $5/mile runner. It is for guys coming onto mercer like I did.
if it was up to guys that think like you then nobody should have a darn truck without having at least $100k in the bank.
why don't you teach us how to reach 6 months off of work by when we reach your age instead.. if you think that's what we all want..

    Sorry for picking on ya..

You need to relax a bit there pal.
you found what works for you, that's awesome. I'm happy for you.
It won't necessarily work for the next guy. And sure as hell is not better than what others have done, it's just better for you. Just like what works for me isn't better than your way, it's just better for me.
Some of these guys have been doing this since before either of us were out of grade school and Attacking their way, claiming yours is the best, is quite arrogant to say the least.

Oh, and my wise old grandpa ### semi retired age is 38. How do I spend half the year at home with my wife and kids? It's called saving, not taking on debt, and being frugal. The stuff our grand parents had to learn before the culture off instant gratification took over this world.

I take most of the summer off...it's not hard, paid for equipment and know the value of your work.
