dose mercer have a store for all the securement gear/ head ache rack? trying to figure out the best way to make the jump next year, im in cali and have been eyeing lone mountain for awhile just wondering if/when i get the truck should i just bobtail it to ky and get the gear then inspection there? also, i will need the securement training as i will be new to flatbed. of course this is all based on the employment and truck approval. Thanks for any info and for the wealth of knowledge i have already gotten from you guys.

I was sitting there when he talked you into eating. I was on the rear corner of the table by the grill guarding the pies , old gray-haired fat guy.

Yes the mercer store will have everything you need to get started with flatbed including I think 3 or 4 different style headache racks

    Hello
I was wondering if this is the place for this question. I was wondering if anyone has a truck from quality and what kind of specs might they be. From the information i have gotten from them it seems that they are Celedon spec'd? I am considering getting a unit from them since I start orientation April 6th. Leaning for the Lonestar but they didnt have anything on it.
    thx for any info.

I got my truck from Quality. Yes, they have a fridge, and an idle reduction system. It isn't actually an apu, it cranks the truck up automatically when the batteries get low. The deal isn't too bad and it includes your insurance. If you get a used truck from them, then it might not be in the best of shape and may or may not be an old Celadon truck. I don't know how Celadon specs their truck exactly, but the T680s we picked up this past week from Indianapolis have a very short wheel base and a short rail for the fifth wheel so in order to fit the trailer and headache rack the fifth wheel is nearly fixed all the way to the rear, not enough room to move it forward at all once you install the headache rack. We have taken several different appraoches the last few days to putting it on and it really depends on which headache rack you get. If you have the standard one, you will need to leave it a little further back in order to allow the a/c fan to breathe which renders the steps to get on your catwalk useless. Also, the catwalk will need to be moved back and the mounting bracket for the air lines/pigtail can either slide toward the cab or placed on the I-beams for the headache rack, but either way, you will need to cut two of the zip ties under the cab in order to give yourself enough play in the air lines to make either adjustment. I am going to go with a headache rack that has a window to make sure my fan can breathe as well as giving me a slightly different option on running my air lines so it looks a little cleaner (with the standard rack you will have to bring the air lines up in front of it and I didn't like the way that looks so I am running mine up behind it and through the window). Mercer has 4 or 5 different headache racks to choose from, the standard one that is very basic, a similar one with a window in the middle, an enclosed one, and one that has an enclosure in the middle but is fairly basic otherwise, don't remember if there were any other options or not. Altogether, with the slight upgrade in a headache rack, it is costing me $2994 for my load securement equipment, but that is just getting the necessities to get me started, will get extra straps/chains/binders up the road once I get back to work.

Hell, if youre just giving the chains away, I could use them I'm sure. I run north of 80 alot in the winter for some reason. I hate the cold, I know I've said that before, but I'm an idiot what can I say.

I'd love to see $2 per mile freight. All i've been seeing on the board is $1.55! What's up with that????
