The market is already flooded. Mercer has what? 2300 trucks? Give or take a few. That's less than one percent of the total trucks in America. You think those other guys don't have their own salesman trying to get freight?

A note about the load board. When you are looking at the board, too should be using the advance search option. That gives the most ways to expand our narrow your search criteria. On the far left side you will see the word matched in some loads. Those are the ONLY loads your coordinater sees. If nothing is matched then he our she has your preferences set to tight. This could be from minimal dead head settings, to which regions you don't want to run, to minimum loaded miles, and so on.

I pull a stepdeck here and the Louisville area hell most of Kentucky has been tough market, everything is too heavy for me there's pvc but you'll need levelers some vehicles but you'll need ramps, AC units in Louisville and Styrofoam, but it's slim for us I've done well running otr, trying to run regional is tough short haul and long deadhead. I always have my coordinator keep my deadhead radius at 300mi

Strange as it may seem it does take some time. You will have a pretty good grip on it in a few weeks but it takes 3 to 6 months ( depending on the individual) to get a real real good grip on it and to be honest I have learned after almost 2 years that it really isn't as simple as it sounds. I've been number 50 on some loads and number 1 on others out of the same area. There are an awful lot of factors that determine your position on a particular load. Just yesterday I got accepted on a load I was number 46 on and was sure I wouldn't get it. But I did. I learned early on not to be afraid to commit on a load even if you are a high number on it. Do I fully understand it today? Nope but it works.

I have also noticed the uncommitt button has also been removed from us too. Used to you could undo it before you got accepted on it but once accepted it was yours. And yes accepted is different from dispatched. Board position goes by when dispatched or when empty but not when accepted. Rarely makes a difference but it can.

If you commit and then change your mind, prior to being accepted, can't you just go back in and refuse?

no you lose that option. It takes a phone call to undo it now. also your coordinator can commit you to multiple loads at a time and see which you get accepted on first. You can only do one at a time. This is helpful when their are multiple identical loads and you have a high board position.
