Thanks for the reply! I was just yanking his chain, I've been here for longer than 3 days. But I do appreciate the response.

Well I'm the one who mentioned the payments, but I'm not "hating" on the L/P people, just stating the reality of being strapped with such high payments, been there. You might not agree with my assessment but math is math. You're roughly $40,000/year in the hole, with a flat/van, not including insurance, maintenece, or fuel. So you can't afford to sit, you have to run, if you don't your 1 catastrophic event away from not being here, or one very slow period away from eating pbj's every day. I wasn't taking a shot at any L/P guy or gal either, if it works for you great, you're the one that has to be happy with it, & I hope it works out for you. My point was with rates & only rates!! Everyone at Mercer is on the same board, so if you & I were in the same area, and the only thing available is $1.27/mile freight, I can absorb waiting for a longer period of time, while you will likely have to snatch and go, & if there are 20 L/P drivers that have to do the same, well that's how rates decline. Again, it was definitely not a shot at any L/P person, and I wish you the best!!

The more likely scenario is the lp guy leased to Mercer bounces two hundred miles to get a 1.80 load, and that 1.27 load sits on the dock until it's taken later in the day by a guy that just mortgaged his house, bought a truck and got his own authority.

I don't know what your guys coordinators are like, but mine would immediately take me off something I booked paying 1.27 a mile. I'd also suspect I would be hit with a random drug test that after noon.

Its all relative. To me right now 1.27 would be darn good money.. .. of course I'm doing a lot of LTL and now have seven different loads on my trailer. When LTL works out it's very good.

My coordinator doesn't even like offering me anything under $2.00 and anything over 25,000lb he does a great job at keeping me profitable.

I can never seem to put those together. I look at them regular but it never works out for me.

LTL can be tough. You have to learn that certain customers are willing to ship partial loads if there's a truck available. Normally they wait for a full load or send out multiple stops at a truckload rate with stop-offs. Some are cooperative, others not so much.
