A lot of places will push you to change the expansion valve to. But it's a serious pain to get to on some vehicles, and in all the cars and trucks I've owned I only ever changed one, and the ac system didn't implode on any of the others.

 

Nothing wrong with doing it at a truck stop. I've put pistons in truck stop parking lots. But I wouldn't have them fix your ac. Will end up costing more than the dealer after the mark up on parts.

 

I will be there Monday morning, then deliver in Lexington,ky load for Charleston and reload there back to Lexington, may come back by the yard agin then Thursday evening

 

you should be able to get parts for less than 500 , whats truck ya got again?
