Happens occasionally. Shippers are always trying to save money just like the rest of us. but on the flip side, I've called an agent and said, hey I see you got this load, but it's a little under the rate I need. If you don't get it covered and the customer can come up xx dollars i'll be happy to grab it. Half the time this works. Especially so when it's a load no one really
wants, needs tarped, or goes to Florida, etc. It's just business man, refine your negotiating skills and always deliver what you promise. It will pay off. There is a customer down here that specifically requests me. He calls me before he calls the agent to see if I'm home, and if not when I can get here, and when possible has changed job site scheduling around to accommodate my schedule.

Pete I won't say don't take that load. But be careful. Also one of the hardest things for me to learn was that on occasion it was ok to sit a day or three. Get a hotel and relax. But you have to be careful where you go still. If you prebook like me and you have been looking for a load out for two or three days while you were on your way to a place you might have to sit. I always look at loads coming out of a place before I book a load into an area. If it's an area haven't had good luck in and there is nothing posted that I would take out then I don't go in. Or you can depend on your coordinater. But I didn't come to Mercer to be handled like I still worked for a big mega co.
On a side note. As most of you know I have a rather large amount set aside for maintenance and taxes. That escrow account has grown rather rapidly. Yesterday I called to get a chunk of $ put on my fuel card for an APU install and a overhead and some other minor maintenance done on my truck. I was amazed how there were no questions asked, it only took 30 seconds and all was done. I did learn that over a certain amount (10k?) they have to split up the transaction but only charge the $1.75 fee once.
Also I took the time to call my recruiter and thank her. We have called eachother a few times since I came on at New Years. It's one of the reasons I know Mercer is the right place for me. Of course instantly the conversation went to food. Guess I need to stay away from Mercertown, they just want to make me fat n happy. Oh yes and she may have fed me some Kool Aid too.

the total miles pay with dh would of been 1.50 all miles. Which doesn't seem to bad for van. But it got taken off the load
Every load im asking about is gone which i ask why are the still up. Soon as they are taken they should be removed. Next week i wanna try to PREBOOK my loads with my cord help as im still learning. I always call and ask him hey you think this is good or not?

Often, good loads will be grabbed by someone higher then you. Esp if the load is for today or tomorrow. That's why I don't wait. Lots of people are afraid to or are not interested in a load 2-3 days down the road. They need today's load. Don't worry you will get the hang of things.
