Ok two things. First, No you don't need money upfront for lettering. It will come out of your settlement in about 2-3 months. When it showed up on mine I had totally forgotten about it and it took a day or two to figure it out.

Second, go back and read more of this and other theads on Mercer. Might be the "Why do some fail..." Thread. But you REALLY need to have some capital to start out. It's great that you just got a bunch of work done, but what happens if (and I hope it doesnt) you have a major breakdown just after signing on? Do you have an emergency fund? You really need one.

Now with that said, I came here with less than ideal funds at hand. Oh I had the money for equipment, food and my hotel (it was Xmas and cold. Didn't want to deal with cold nights). And if you find my post from mid-late Dec I busted my rear for two weeks to give me some cushin. But my maintenance fund was at 0 on purpose. I had about $6k in my tax fund (accesable but then Uncle Sam would be a little upset) and 2-3k cash on hand. The only reason I made the move still was because I risked my retirement funds (IRAs, stocks n pension) as a emergency fund and I knew that even tho I keep those funds off limits. If worse comes to worse I had plenty of funds set aside. Can it be done on a shoestring budget. You bet. I never came close to even touching my cushin $. So I'm not saying someone can't do it.

As for flats vrs vans? Flats is more work. Mainly because I'm still learning. I learn every load. And as I learn the lanes better the money keeps getting better too. As I improve my securing skills the work becomes a little less. I have had two friends come here from my last company now with a third on their way. All vans, all happy. The more they learn the van lanes the better they do. But none of them are making what I am. BTW, the equipment paid for itself in about 3 weeks of running. I've added some. But that always seems to pay for itself the first load I use them on.

If you can reach under your mattress and pull out $1500 then go flats. If you want to swing doors then go vans. It really boils down to, do whatever is going to make u happy in the end.

Chk the condenser fan or is it the fan (blower). Could be something got in there. Might be an easy fix.

I'm the first to put the truck in the shop. But if it's a noise or something I'll try and track it down. And from your description it sounds like a fan hitting something. I have a TK not carrier. 4 fans total. Two blower fans (1ac, 1 heater). A radiator fan n a condenser fan. So that's what I'd be checking. And if the noise isn't from under my bunk I can scratch 2 off to start. ;)

Yea it's under my bunk. it's got one blower fan and that's not it as I set the apu to fan mode n it's fine. Just makes that noise on ac. My apu has a radiator fan but I'm 99% sure that's not it as it's outside n it from bunk lol.

Silly question are you sure your belt isn't loose or one of the pulleys. They engage and disengage when the ac is on

Thank ya much I'll make sure to have extra cash for that. I usually use a debit card to keep from carrying a lot of cash, but I know cash sometimes will get a discount.
