I've loved mine, I put in a month or so ago and now I'm not sure how I've made it so long without one.

I was only making about $0.87, $1.17 with fsc where I was before I came here. My fixed costs and fuel costs were higher as well, so the switch to Mercer I would do a million times over. Even with the learning curve and loads that I screw myself over, I still do much better on those than I ever did elsewhere....much better when I don't screw myself obviously.

I'm right there with ya, even if you took the five cheapest loads I've pulled since coming to Mercer, they are still much better than what i was making the twelve or so years prior to coming to Mercer.

I think the best I ever saw there was $1.33 with the fsc and that's when diesel was north of $4.00. I think that is still more than $0.40 cheaper than the cheapest load I've moved here. Though that's only in a couple months, but still.

Do you believe we make more money when fuel is higher due to fsc? To me this seems true cuz if you slow down it's better mpg.. @ 75 mph I got 6.01 mpg in 1382 which is good for that speed. Will I do a load like that again? No..

The fsc, in my experience, is based off the national avg as well as the industry standard of 6.0 mpg. So yeah, the higher the cost of fuel, the more we make as long as we get better than 6 mpg.

Yes and no. If you get great fuel mileage you get a bigger check, but you also spend more with the higher costs of living. Look at grocery prices for examples. Produce, milk, and beef especially go up in price when fuel goes high. Farmers burn a lot of fuel raising crops and feeding animals. that costs always gets passed on to us, the consumer.

By posting your prior company rates, & reading the last few pages of this thread, a very clear picture is being drawn!

If person "A" is coming from a place where they were being paid roughly a buck a mile, then $1.40 is like hitting Powerball! When person "B" is coming from average market rates, then that $1.40 is a kick in the face!

BTW you aren't complaining IMO, you just happen to know your worth!

Not a single person here has said a buck forty is hitting power ball. Or even suggested it's a good rate. the only thing said even remotely favorably about that rate was me, telling a brand new owner operator that even tho he only averaged that for the month, it was still much better than he would have done if had gone with a big box carrier.
