I have a example for you, it's actual freight, I'll leave out the exact details as far as origination and destination, but I assure you it's coming from and going to the same place, posted by separate carriers!
Carrier 1- 784 miles $1853.94 =$2.36/mile
Carrier 2- 805 miles $2700 = $3.35/mile
Not only is Carrier 2 paying more per mile, but they are paying more total miles! Carrier 2 is also a Mega Flatbed Carrier! I can show you this on lane after lane, not just this one! -
Don't forget Mercer takes %25. So add in %25 and that's what it's really paying. You can always go run on your own. No one is holding guns to anyone head here making people stay..
larry2903 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
The point was, the name on the door does matter!!
I never said I had a gun to my head! A couple people decided to argue that rates were like this industry wide, I'm pointing out that they're not!
I will also add that, I will not run, nor have I ever run a truck for $1.43/mile average!Last edited: Jun 8, 2015

Not a one of us have said rates are not down from last year. We just understand how the industry works and that rates don't vary to much from one carrier to the next.
