Laugh all you wish to. You and I pretty much agree on most things; and I was not here to bash your beloved Mercer. I haul for them occasionally as an outside carrier; they pay; I'm happy. My point was this: in the realm of rates............getting a "great" rate out of TX 4 times a year was no big stroke.

no, that wasn't what you did, don't play it off. you said the guy had no life, it aint got nothing to do with mercer. nothing to do with mercer or 2 a mile freight. you know that, and you know what I meant in my reply.

No life may be a strong statement but 90 days out to me severely limits the bounds of a life at least outside of the truck. Although if it works stay out 4 or 5 months everyone's situation is different.

I have been done for quite a while, but I would like to point out that you are a year behind. that post was made feb, 2014 those numbers I quoted were 2013 numbers. last years numbers were 184,000 on 89,000 speedometer miles or 2.06 a mile. that's why you had me confused over that number. and again that's overall avg, . so yeah were done, in the future look at dates of a post might help to avoid confusion. so now you see how i have manged to still keep it over 2 a mile,

it depends on how ya live that life, many times i may not have been home, but i have met my family at horse shows, this year already in Ocala,fl and Raleigh,nc. i guess we have adapted , they know no other way of life, and my wifes dad was a otr o/o, this is her normal. she knows how to handle it. with todays technology you are never far away, with Skype , e-mail, texting of videos, etc . you are never far away. not like years ago when ya might call home once or twice a week , collect no less.

mtoo, you also have to understand that the way freight is acquired has changed also. many companies have done away with their traffic depts., and turned it over to 3pls and the like, not as much personable get to to know the shipping guy and getting the freight as in the past. the cbd loads are basically cattle call loads sent out to everyone and first guy with a truck gets it, that is til someone comes in cheaper and the 3 pl cancels the load . if ya notice a cheaper load never cancels, always one that's fairly decent.

So if it is my attitude that has directly impacted my business for the better? Im good with that, all #### day! As for me pulling below average rates? Tell me again how you have seen my financial statements? Thays what I thought, so before you go on blast about how you somehow know for a fact what I run for you should watch what you say. How do you know I run the same lanes for less? As for the forklifts, the last load of forklifts I pulled payed over $3/mile, so how is it that you know what it is I am pulling for?

The super trucker comment, you are absolutely right. I know for a fact I could out drive your ### all day long. I know I can work for less & make more, but why wouldnt I work the way I have been and continue to watch my bank account grow? I an the new breed of trucking in America, I know this. I also know the problem with trucking is this old school mentality from people like YOURSELF, that have created such a bad comradery in this business. You can talk all you want trying to put me in my place. I know how you tough you are behind a computer. I gurantee in person it would be a differemt story.

You keep telling me how you are so much better than myself sweet heart. I enjoy reading your ridiculous post on here. If its bad that Mercer hires guys that WANT to work, then why are you here?

Timing is everything here. If you haven't figured that out yet then that sucks.

    1. I do have a life. I take a good bit of time off all around the country. If you think that because I only go to my physical address 4 times a year I dont have a life? You obviously dont get it. I have hunting property in Alabama not to mention family all over the country. It happens to be what works for me. So yes, I do have a life. Cute comment about how you know me so well.

    2. 4 times a year at $2/mile out of Texas, it is good if that is the only time I am pulling out of there. So I wasnt bragging about $2/mile, just simply stating that anyone can get those rates out of there. I know it is not an every day thing. That was not what I said.

Next time try reading the post all the way through.

This is exactly what I am talking about! Some of us do what is best for US! It might not be the most ideal lifestyle for someone else. I dont understand why someone would bash the way another decides to run their truck and provide for their family the way they see fit.
