The flaps help a lot, next time I buy tarps, even my steel tarps are getting flaps. Also you gotta learn, that load is not a Christmas package to gift wrap, it just needs to look decent at high way speeds and kept dry.

I get that, but personal pride won't let me go down the highway with it just on there however. It's just a tarp, but taking pride in the smallest of details and doing things right reflect better not just on the individual, but on the company as a whole. I view it in the same respect as so many have stated recently on the visual appearance of some of the more recent hires.

You will with time you will look at the tarp and just know witch way to pull the bungee to make it thight took me 5 hr my first tarp load canned adhesive had to use v boards was in kc city ks end of July 102 deg it takes less than an hr now even if I use 8' drops on the 4' load ( but I have to add Mit I don't use mercer tarps I perfer a three pice lumber set 70 lb each and the one 4' drop I just bought was the best investment I ever made)

I agree the only tarps I have that don't have a flap is my center lumber tarp witch I turn long ways for a 24' with a 5' drop (steel) and the smoke I have with d rings I use for an end cap when I need it

Oh I make them look good. Just not perfect. I get the tarp centered, and do good corners. I just no longer spend the extra hour making it look vacuum sealed. But they are never loose. I hate song tattoos that look like a hot air balloon going down the highway.

I agree with wanting to make it all look right and part of making it look good is having the right tarps for the job it makes your job quicker, easier and is a better fit on the load.

As for buying different tarps I would say consider the time you are losing and how much money it is costing you versus buying Tarps that will work better for you and recouping some of your losses by selling your tarps in the company store

I did make a similar mistake I worked for Melton before coming here so I new what I was looking for in tarps mercer didn't have what I was looking for in lumber tarps so I went some were else for those I thought a smoke tarp was a smoke tarp so I got mercer wrong first time I looked at it was when I needed to use it as an end cap for a 4' load had no d rings it was useless to me was going to sell it at the Mercer store but now it covers the bike I bought

We all had a few parachute or balloon looking tarps at first. I have found a combination of rope and bungees to be the fastest and best way to keep your loads looking good. with rope even these cheap smoke tarps work as end caps
