As already stated this isn't the best place for vans. It is slow for van this time of year as it is. If you can go flats then I suggest that route

I'd consider flat for sure. Would you
I would definitely consider flat as well. Would you be able to provide the requested information based on a flatbed?

As far as pay one guy in orientation with me was getting 30% of the gross and I think he and the Coordinator dispatched the truck. I've only been here 2 Months but I can tell you it's better to ask a recruiter about gross avgs because I'm still learning but I'm doing ok. But compared to others I could do better but I wanna get comfortable with the system as a whole. I hope this gives you a idea

Well I have read this entire thread now some parts several times. And being a Van Driver I understand not only the different seasons the ups and downs of freight capacity etc. I have gone through all the prehire been approved and waiting on trailer. Recruiting gave me 12k to 14k avg gross for Van but really is like 16k drivers are telling them. So my question is while Mercer is mainly a Flat hauling company is there a real world Van freight base? Those that do post are on the negative side lately(and I do understand its slow where I am at). I was told the Van side is averaging $1.61 to the truck with a fleet avg of about 12% dead head how does that sound? I am having second thoughts that maybe another company with a larger Van freight base would be smart...would be a shame as I like the Mercer concept a lot. Those numbers are okay and if the freight is there to keep moving it would work...that's the key if one can keep moving along not sitting...anyway not looking for you guys to make my decision for me. Just a little input if you have any....thanks
