As an independent observer and someone that has read a lot of different threads on the van vs flat discussion, I would recommend Schneider Choice if I were going to go strictly van and had no desire to ever switch to flat. They are a mostly van company, have many drop and hooks, you can plan out as far as you want, first come first come dispatch that YOU are 100% in charge of, and the d/h, and paid miles are calculated to where you can see the freight pay and what you will net per mile with the d/h involved before you decide to take the load, and it is percentage pay. The guys there that actually know how to run a trucking business seem to really like it and make decent to good money. If you don't mind pulling an orange trailer you may want to check it out.

This might happen to me Monday lol. But I couldn't pass it up. Found another load going west for above $3. A mile lol. I think that's a mistyped on their end?

good luck, sounds like a trap like mine was. It's ok, I'd do it again now that I know how to do it best, just took all day because I'd get started, get some verbal help that would make sense, so I'd start over. That happened a few times, until I finally got it going the right way. Thanks to everyone that helped out.

So what are my chances staying busy living in Vegas? I don't mind staying out a couple weeks before heading home. I was considering going to another carrier but after research about them and working with drivers when I was in the military I think Mercer is my best choice. My other question is my truck is hella old its the cabover in mt pic. What got me interested in this other company is they do a L/P through Quality Leasing. I know Mercer is one of their customers is this just for the flatbed or can I L/P a truck also? Does anyone have any info on this they could share?
I would lease on my cabover but it has over 2 million miles and bumping my head all the time getting old. Besides its getting really worn out so time to retire it and turn it into a restoration project.

You can L/P a truck for van or flat at Mercer. I believe your truck has to have a ECM .

Yeah, thats what they told me. They said the only real requirement was that it had to be computerized and then just pass the inspection.

Living in Vegas I'd say get a Cali truck so you could be more versitile in grabbing a load out but other than that get a flat and roll. If you don't mind staying out then you'll be alright
