Like every spring, things will pickup. And before you know it, we will have more good freight than we can haul.
Unless Mercer hires to many drivers, then we can fight over the freight. -
when i made the comment about lots of new drivers and no freight everybody jumped on me and said it was my own fault so im glad to see im not the only one that realizes this
brodgers Thanks this. -
if i had to do it all over again my opinion is pull a van for them after watchin this contractor board day in and day out seems like their van division is coming on strong. the rates arent quite as good as a flat or step but everyplace im at they always have alot of van freight as compared to flat or step. but i know opinions are like butt holes everybodys got one, just sayn

I don't see alot of mercer loads posted on the board and when you do I see why they pay $2/mi but have 3 or more drops last mercer load I hauled was AC units out of NC first drop in Longview,tx Dallas,tx and had two in Houston,tx so from the outside looking in that's what I see if they had alot more freight than trucks you would see more loads on the outside boards -

Will Mercer allow someone to pull from other brokers load boards?

no body said any was off base, but i got up to ct ny pa and load out without much trouble, i may sit a day to get a better load, but i always manage to get moving.
i work at it pretty hard though. i even got me a load out of florida with my flat, i played a hunch, took a load to deerfield beach and got a reload back to ga 30 miles from home. its oversize and well over 2 bucks a mile. funny thing i was 44 on th list and no one else wanted it.
heres the hunch i played , was delivering in baton rouge on friday , on wednesday i saw a load from gulfport to deerfield at 2.00 a mile, looked at load board saw the os to ga, matched and saw i was #44 on one of them and #46 on the other os to ga. , looked at it , and said i bet no one will take because of the size 60' feet long and 9' 11" wide. turns out i was right. #44 and it fell right into my lap, so instead of dh out fl, i turn a 1000 on 360 miles, and end up 30 miles from the house.
what i am saying is, things might not be easy right now. its going to take a little extra effort, but it can be done. i got to tell you last jan feb and mar were my 3 highest grossing months in 2012 and 2011 was also.
i just havent experienced the drop off some of you seem to have experienced. i just work the load board to death and my secret weapon(the wife) checks the board constantly and knows the biz enough to know which loads i want, she calls me about loads too . its like i got two coordinators. if fact when i get pulled up on the mercer computer screen , in the comment section there is the notation " wife finds loads" , i am fortunate in that i married a truckdrivers daughter who ordered all the os/od permits and handled the loads when i had 8 trucks pulling modular and mobile all over the southeast. if i lived closer to louisville she would make a fine coordinatorTravelinman, bnpcamaro and richhawn Thank this.
