Sounds like you were as surprised as I was when I did that. Makes you stop and wonder, if we are taking so much time off and still being ranked high (altho you blew me out the water) what the heck is everyone else doing? All I did was what you and a few others said to do in this very thread. My buddy on the van side who is doing well is just doing what I said I do (all from this thread). I think a few should really read this thead at least once from post one till the end. Then read 'why do people fail at Mercer" 3-5 times. We might not rank so high after that but I bet a lot more drivers would be happy.

I'm told the problem is more than just mercer but DSL and phone lines throughout Kentucky and down into Tennessee.
Something with ATT. -
Phones, load board and mobile app are down.

KJ, I always thought you was on the flat side but I think the other day you said Van. When I started here I tried and managed to hit 2. Fuel dropped and I took the cut in FSC. I based it on the Mega I used to work for. So with the drop in fuel I lost .20¢ per mile and reluctantly started looking at cheaper freight. The last 7 days or so it seems rates are coming back up. The area I'm in now I've been bouncing back and forth for 3+. The area last week was 2.5+. Anyhow, I tell my van guy to think .25¢ less then me. Sad part is he tends to make more then me the last two weeks. I will say this, normal lanes seem to be a bit off. But if you see flats in your area getting 2 then you should do 1.8.
Just a guide, not set in stone. And if your sitting go area to area on the board and see where the money is this week. It will change next week.larry2903 Thanks this. -
Hang in there Flightline, there's still a light at the end of the tunnel.

CJ, your buddy that says he is doing well on the van side, what is his "well"? I mean I don't owe a nickel to anyone in my world and I don't think I do well. I mean I get a check but I just think it's so subjective per each driver.

You have a point. He only has the trailer payment. Like me every thing else in the world is paid for except phones and homeowners ins. I know he sets 30% aside like me for taxes and repairs. And I have a good idea of his weekly net. But his or my weekly net might not be what you need for your weekly net. And gross numbers can be manipulated a lot. He has managed to stay near the 2 mark on his loads and avg about 8-900 mls per load doing 2-3 a week. Him and his wife love time off like I do. So like me it's not uncommon to rent a car and take in the sights for a few days everywhere the go or always wanted to go but couldn't because we use to work for a mega.

What ever happened to Kona and pound puppy. There was another that comes to mind but I just can't place it. Also I guess we all got called on the initial Xmas UPS runs this winter. I wasn't interested but flightline are you thinking about it again? Any others? I didn't even hear them out, was it the same rate? Better? I don't need a #. Just starting to think it might be nice to be home almost everyday during that time ( I know a lot of night driving )

I passed on ups this year. Just don't want the stress.
Besides might sell my truck and open a garage.
I'm sure the rate is low considering low fuel surcharge.CJndaTruck Thanks this. -
Just remember I would like a house
. But tbh would rather you stay. I learned a ton from you on here.
