Few weeks ago someone was asking about should they get anything more then what was recommended by mercer. I don't think I ever answered but adding a few straps and getting a couple of hand straps is a must. My second load out I needed more straps (hand ones to be exact). Every couple of trips I needed something else for the first few months. But most things people answered about.

Actually I thought your explanation was good. And you are 100% correct on the longer you wait the worse your odds get. It's the fact that most don't look a week out that makes it easier to get a good load a week out. The closer you get to your empty day, the more that those empty trucks are looking at the same load you are. I snuck another little hint in there, thought about editing but figured someone might catch it and it could help them.

    Thanks, CJ and Razor

That does clear up a lot of my confusion. They definitely have a different system. That would take some getting used to

@cj, I didn't sit in but briefly chatted with you Thursday of your orientation. I will say this in reference to same van and fb loads. Last Thursday I loaded in Herlong, myself and a mercer fb, same destination, same weight, slightly diff product but either could have loaded van or flat. Completely vetted and unambiguous, van 1.49, flat 2.01. That equated to a 1200 buck difference. Now, everything is subjective, interpretations can be different, but when I asked someone at mercer to let me see flat earnings of the 50th percentile driver for last 3 months he shot it to my email almost instantly (personal info redacted), then for vans not so quick, frankly haven't seen it to this day a week later. I say if vans work for you I am glad, I'm a 110% capitalist conservative, however my experience has been less than expected and unimpressive for mercers reputation. That said I'm hooking to my flat after dropping off my van and pulling it back to louisville for their inspect so starting next week I won't be dealing with it anyway.

I agree with your manifesto, and I am grabbing my flat. It's all relative, you like it and feel the money is good, I don't cut out any states and I don't think the van money is good at all. Again, it's relative, expectations and standards of income vary for all of us, I feel the pay and customers are substandard, you don't, it's a gentlemans disagreement.

24 hr layover doesn't equate to 150 does it.. Cause that's what this dumb agent is trying to say is the industry standard
