yeah come to think of it I'm usually around 7-10% by the time all is said and done. One year I think I hit 2%. I still set 20% aside anyway.

Pete really needs to talk to a tax man not sure but I think his truck LP payments come off his gross where I have to depreciate my truck over three years and the only I can rite off on my truck payments is the interest
blacklabel Thanks this. -
Yea he said i can write my truck payments off and trailer. Maybe he ment 25% of my net? lol Im call him monday to confirm and might talk to another tax person to compare

Have you already ordered your trailer? Mine was ordered on July 21st and still waiting on it. I wouldn't quit your current job until your sure the trailer is there and ready.
-
I've asked about 10 times to make sure I will have a trailer on the 31st. Every time he has told me that I will have a trailer ready for me on the 31st and I even made him hang up with me and call whoever they have to call for trailers and confirm for me one last time that I will have a trailer. I explained to him that I would be highly pissed off if I get up there and have no trailer. He told me it has been taken care of. He said he can't guarantee that it will be a brand new trailer but that he guarantees that I will have one on the 31st.Bucktrucker Thanks this.

If you're scheduled for orientation then they have you a trailer. If you're not scheduled then I wouldn't bank on it yetkjoseph Thanks this.

Well good luck but I've been approved for a while and was told mine would be there in 14 days it's now been 26 but supposedly will be there next week. I was told that one's that were approved on the first week of July got there's this past week. Good luck I'm ready to get rolling my self

I did mention to him that I "talked" to a few people trying to get trailers, (actually just saw some on here having trouble getting them) and he said it could be a number of things. If you're getting a lease truck then it will take longer and yada yada yada. I'm bringing my own truck and it's not a lease so they don't have to get approval through a lease company etc to put it on with Mercer. Plus I have no accidents or tickets and all of my driving has been at 1 company so they only had to call one. Maybe that helped expedite my process. Plus it helps to have friends in high places

You new guys gonna have to give the trailer guy some slack.. There are alot of guys including myself that are waiting a on flatbeds who work here already. We get first dibs on the trailers then you guys.. Be patient you'll get one eventually
-
Something must have happened for me to get approved on the 13th and will have a trailer on the 31st. You might want to call the trailer guy and make sure they haven't forgot about you.
And on a side note, I don't agree with the "we work here so we get first dibs" thing. Should go in order. For example, if I apply today and get approved today and you decide tomorrow to jump over to flat, you shouldn't be able to jump ahead of me. At that rate it would hard to add any new employees. This doesn't apply here, just a random thought after reading through this thread.Bucktrucker Thanks this.
