OK... Guess u been here for 20 years... Smh why is it always newbies that know more about who you work for then you. Lol... If we work here we get first dibs on trailers.. I just got on the list yesterday so I'm not worried.. But we definitely get dibs on trailers first... That's out of the horses mouth

Maybe you misunderstood or I didn't explain myself the way I thought I did. What I was getting at was people keep saying they're having a problem getting a trailer but they are short on detail. They aren't saying if they have problems in verifying employment or if they're waiting on a Quality truck etc. So, in order for me to get on the list and have a trailer 2 weeks later while others have been waiting for 20+ days then either there is more to the story on their part or Mercer just got a bunch of trailers in.

And I also was not saying that current drivers don't get dibs on trailers. I was saying that I don't agree with that. I read that somewhere else in this thread and thought to myself, "why would you not have it as first come first serve". If someone got on the list and was told they would have a trailer on a certain date then they get there and the "trailer guy" says, "Oh sorry, we had 10 guys who work here who wanted to swap so we gave your trailer to them". How would that be a good business practice? Someone gets approved and is told that they have a trailer, they leave their current job, get to orientation just to find out that an employee decided to swap over so they got that trailer. I'm not saying it would happen like that. I would assume that once you're told that you have a trailer, someone can't "jump" you otherwise it seems like Mercer would be tied up in lawsuits constantly for drivers showing up and their trailers have been given away.

Again, didn't mean to step on your toes or tell you about your job. I was just suggesting that maybe since it was fairly easy for me to be guaranteed a trailer that you may want to call and see if they got some in so you're not waiting around for a month for one. Just trying to give the guys waiting in line a heads up.

I tried to work with mercer when I had my authority. All they proposed me were loads at a price below market I cannot say more because I do not know. But if they run at the prices they offered me I wonder how they stay in business.... Simply they are cheep

Well, I told him I wanted new. He said he couldn't guarantee that it will be new so I just assumed that there wasn't an option to get on a list to wait on a new one. One that is a year or 2 old wouldn't bother me. I definitely wouldn't want one that's 4 or 5 years old unless the maintenance had been kept up on the trailer and it needed nothing (brakes, tires, etc) and there weren't many payments left.

I originally wanted a step but when he told me the list was backed up until 2016, I decided to pass on that one.

Read the thread. Guys which their own numbers get what we don't want as far as loads. And with the trailer, I got the oldest they had 2014 with brand new Bridgestone tires and brakes at 85-90% fairly new basically. They will not sell you a trailer that won't pass inspection trust me. And with mine I still have warranty like others stated. Just be patient with the trailers and once you get to orientation just tell the guy you'd like the newest one they have or new. It was only 4 of us in orientation getting flatbed trailers from Mercer I was the only one who got a used one. I could've got new if I wanted but didn't wanna pass up 30 payments and a small ballon of less then $2500 and it's mine. But let me clarify that if you go new then it won't be any ballon

That's exactly what I'm talking about. A trailer like the one you are talking about would be fine with me. Not brand new but it is in good shape and doesn't have tires at 50% and brakes at 30% etc. I could definitely justify a used one for fewer payments.

I thought there was a balloon but the escrow takes care of that or is that something I misunderstood?

Please do not get me wrong ... Mercer offered me loads at 70% of gross when I had my authotity. TQL was beating them by a lot! I am not saying mercer is a bad company but at the price they offered I would have not backed up a truck!

If you get a brand new one then the escrow knocks out the ballon which is a good thing but if you get used then fewer payments but a ballon. Off the top of my head I believe my ballon is $2000 or somewhere around there, I have to look at my lease agreement to be sure. Each trailer that gets turned in gets gone over with a fine tooth comb and if the tires are bad they out brand new ones on like they did mine and they didn't go cheap. With the brakes I'm not sure how hard the guy before me ran but they were fairly new
