Wait a minute. You said "invasive". How can that term possibly apply to any company driver?

    Don't answer that. Rhetorical question.

Anyhow, here's a novel idea. Hire drivers that are worth a crap for a change AND pay them well so they'll stick around, then there'd be little need for "micro-management ".

If you have a so-called "driver" that's too stupid to perform the simple task of driving the truck without wrecking it, than THAT one needs to be replaced, instead of punishing the GOOD drivers with such crap as what we're discussing here.

The few inexperienced people that thought driving a truck was easy and got their license then found out that it wasn't easy wrecked it for everybody. And are still doing it. Thank You J.B. and Snider. ( from back in the 80s)
I drove by one rule. Get the job done then I could F-off.

That's exactly the way we do it. This little company has been around for almost fifty years and the way they do things has served them well.
They've stayed small on purpose, treated the drivers and the customers like they should be treated, and made money every year.
Like I said in another post " good drivers don't really cost you any money, good drivers make money for you". We know that and we run things accordingly.

It's going to get to the point that drivers less trucks will have to be used because no one wants to work for less than minimum wage ( for all hours worked)

It's the culture. For six years I've done my job perfectly - perfect MVR, perfect attendance, perfect on-time. Yet I still get reminded constantly how to do the most rudimentary tasks and have to send constant messages to assure dispatch I am doing my job. The owners just can't wrap their heads around the FACT that micro-managing their best employees is a poor business strategy.

There is just something wrong about how the administrative line staff get trained and supervised.

    I know what you mean.
30 years of doing this and it's Wrong. If I'm that lucky, Why cant I win the lottery?
The only thing dispatch has to tell me is where to pick up and the phone number of the broker.
I can figure out the rest. I'll call you when I'm empty. Or if I have a problem. But until you should not hear from me.

    jungledrums and 48Packard Thank this.
