I would go to TMC. You will learn not only how to drive but also how to do flatbed... Killing 2 birds with one stone...
One of the problems with a family owned company is that they do not file a Form 10-K. Heartland Express financials are easily accessible. Heartland Express 2018 Form 10-K
There are pros and cons with both companies. With Millis the training will only cost me $1k total (veteran), compared to the $4k with TMC (which is forgiven after one year, whereas Millis is not). Millis has a terminal in Cartersville right at 100 miles from my home. I would most likely be Southeast Regional. I am at the extreme of TMC's freight area. A couple people who have left the company have sited the reason for leaving being lack of loads in the southeast. TMC has that black and chrome beauty. It's a tough choice.
What happened to coke head Mikey and Dan ? I’m guessing retired by now maybe ? When I was there early 90’s coke head Mikey was like recruiting or something he gave me my road test. Dan was in safety.
Dry van or flat bed ? Both are worlds apart my friend... Knowing what I’ve learned in going on 26 years of long haul TMC would be my choice of the two you are deciding on.
Mike got bought out by Dan and David few years back and has no active role in Millis now. Dan is still head of safety and David is the President.
