Since I've been working for Millis I've first learned to drive a truck in the winter, started solo driving in the early spring while learning to make deliveries to places using bad information regarding company names/locations/phone numbers using a GPS that sends me bad directions too often before having to adapt to doing all that during a pandemic. Now I get to ad dealing with civil unrest into the mix, I wonder what the rest of the year is going to bring?

Hoping we got all the bad stuff out of the way for the rest of the decade.

I bought a CB radio while I was home and want to know which of the 2 power wires on the radio hook up to which 2 of the 3 choices on the truck. The truck has a plug with 3 connections on it, one red, one Orange and one white. The radio has a red and black wire coming out of it. I guess the two reds get connected while the black and white wires get connected, is that right? It seems like there could be a removable shell the radio goes into that fits into the fixture in the truck that has been removed too, am I missing the shell? Or just the other half of the plug? The picture below shows the plug in the truck.

Ya you’re missing the shell and connectors. Here’s mine. You can probably ask the shop and get a shell out of an old truck.

######, Opie gave me a choice between a Plano or a Shelby load from Rome, GA. I picked Shelby because I like to get out slightly West occasionally, haha. So I get to Foss in Rome and I have to back my trailer into the dock. Awkward little place but got it in. Then hooked to the load and rolled.

Get to Shelby this morning at 0900. Already pre-planned for a load to Muscatine, IA. I figure I hook to that and get there by 2 I should be able to get to Iowa 80 before my 14 at 1820. (Last time I rolled in around 1700 and regretted it - had to PC out at 2200).

Well, it isn't loaded yet. It still isn't loaded yet. It probably won't be finished until 1100 tomorrow.

Question. Do the times Opie sends on the dispatches mean anything. The load info had Shelby 2148 6/5. Final Muscatine 0948 6/6.

Oh well, guess I'll rest the clock. Ran it hard the first three days out.

When I was at Millis years ago. I was told by OPIE those time are often generated by the shipper so the carrier knows in advance when the load needs to be covered. As we all know Trucking is not a perfect beast the schedule is subject to change for a a lot of reasons. Just be glad it’s all dry Van. I do Reefer now and a delivery delay can cost you a whole load of money. Dry van it can sit and at the worst a delivery place is just pissed they didn’t get it on time etc.

    Always loved Menards in Shelby.

I wonder about those times too. I've often heard about how there isn't any freight before he sends me a load that's been waiting for a day. And he'll let me know if something can be delivered early too.

We run a few to MN and ND from there. At least our times given are meaningless execpt for when our detention starts in Shelby sometimes they are ready but most of the times they are not. Delivery times are scheduled when you pull out. They ask you when you will be to the store and they tell the store when you will arrive.

Menards loads to DC's have a 10day window so the date on your QC isn't a hard date. Ive taken several Menards DC loads home for weekend and date says Sat delivery, and he says deliver it Monday morning its no big deal.

As for Memards store loads there really isn't an appointment on them. 99.99% of time you show up to a store they have no idea you were even coming.

Basically appointment times for any Menards load are meaningless lol
