    As has been said, some things do not work well with a modified sine wave inverter.
    Your unit could be overheating and triggering a shutdown.
    Or the inverter is not putting out enough current to sustain the fridge when your batteries get a little low.

    Well this wal mart fridge is junk. It works when it wants to, more times not working than working. I bought Galanz brand-what a junk. It heats up so much that sides are already warped.
    Im going to buy a better brand name Ge, Kenmore, Igloo, etc. Gotta take this pos back to wal mart.

    Is the heatsink on that cooler a 1 piece, placed through the plastic lid or what?

    It is a single heat sink mounted to the front/top of the cooler. (Front or top, depending on how you position it.)
    Both the main fan and the cover are mounted with screws that use the heat sink fins.

    There is a smaller fan inside the cooler that is also mounted to the inside heat sink. That one has never failed in the units I have had, probably because it is small and well cooled.
