I noticed when I first started driving several years ago, that drivers using cell phones openly while driving were fairly rare. Now, I can tell what drivers are on the phone by being BEHIND them and watching how many times they cross the center line or the mayo line on right side.
The other day I followed a truck that literally went out of their lane 10 times in 10 miles. Would ride with the zipper going between the seats in the cab. I watched them run several cars off the side of the road almost into the median who tried to pass them. Needless to say, when I tried to pass, this person almost ran me off into the median. I look at them, they are looking at their phone. I blow my airhorn as long and as loudly as I know how and he didn't even look up. It was one of those typical foreigners in a white Cascadia that used to occupy white Volvos.
But this was a lease trailer and a Ryder truck so I had no idea who to call to report it. I got the video saved on my dash cam but not much I can do with it if I don't know who to send it to. I interact with thousands of trucks every week and very few stick out in my mind, but this guy sure did. I thought he was going to kill someone.
More and more truckers openly holding cell phones?
