I think you need to re-read my post. I doubt all these trucks belong to people who live in the neighbourhood. If the owners or drivers don't live in the neighbourhood the trucks shouldn't be there.

I say we bulldoze that idiot Bill De Blazio’s house and build a truckstop there.

I read the post. Not sure what difference it makes where the driver lives in relation to the parked trucks. The residents who are complaining and the police who are ticketing don't care if the drivers lived across town or across the street. That said, it's hard for me to imagine any neighborhood being devoid of any local truck drivers parking as close as possible to their residence.

Obviously if there are 5 trucks parked on a street, all 5 drivers don't live directly across the street from the parked truck but does it make a difference if they live 1 block away or 10 blocks away?

It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out if those trucks parked there belong to people that live in that area or not. All they gotta do is run registration tags on the truck and trailer. NYC and to lesser extent, northern New Jersey is notorious for lack of suitable truck parking.

Because as someone who has a few hundred thousand invested in real estate, the last thing I want are a bunch of truckers pissing and ####ting on my street while they take a reset. My street isn't a truckstop. If they live there, fine. No big deal. Park there all you want. If they don't live there, I don't want them on my street. I went through this with those #### gravel haulers a few years ago. Bylaw enforcement took care of them real quick.

    Easy solution
Build the parking spaces so trucks can't fit
Make them 4 cars long....then where the 5th car would be build a concrete area and plant a tree
    Problem solved
Or if it's angled parking... put those concrete barriers between every 5th stall
Still can fit same number of cars... Have fun driving over those 6" high barriers

No different than uncomfortable seats and other designs to try to keep homeless people from living under bridges or sleeping forever on benches. If you look atop some light posts they put spikes on top so birds won't build nests there. It's all the same idea.

The only problem is the trucks will then move to areas where they will fit, like on/off ramps, highway curbsides, etc. And it still doesn’t address the primary parking problem for trucks. If you’ve run thru or around NYC(especially around Queens,The Bronx,Long Island) you see PLENTY of that going on.

    That's ok
I agree there needs to be a designated place somewhere. Either that or make it standard operating procedure for drivers to take a 10 hour break at Vince Lombardi or elsewhere and they go in deliver or pickup and leave.
I do have some sympathy for drivers that live there. However I have more feelings for not wanting lots of trucks out my front door where truck parking is not allowed.

Biggest problem is going south. Nothing reliable closer than the pilot in Milford or the TA in Southington.

And those two are always packed,no matter what time of the day it is. The Milford Pilot is especially hectic if you’re trying to find a parking spot just so you can get a scale ticket!! Once you pass Milford you’re pretty much past the point of no return until you get to either New Jersey or Pennsylvania as parking at the service areas is very limited (a crapshoot really).
