The elogs are not so bad the plus one is what gets me. It has gotten better now that I can enter my eta in the mac9 and it will auto adjust if its within the customer window. I find it much easier to see what hours I have avbl on elogs compared to paper and I do not miss doing math at 3am one bit.

Ran my first 8 days with elogs now,did my last paper log on christmas(yea!!!)paper logs cut me short by about 2 hours compared to the elogs.I can play around with the elogs more than paper(shush! so to speak)just got to remember to put my notes in,on change of duty status(for off duty I just type iin ....break)3300,in 7-8 days, not bad......but you do have to be vigilant about changing your status, its different, but just like the gps,i think it kind of dumbs you down and makes you not think as much, glaad I had the 2.5 to 3 years on mapbooks, reading signs and doing paper logs.............now plus one thats another story, ewwww but i'll post about that in that thread,me no likey..
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Coming down the homestretch of the final week deadline to have these elogs installed. I still don't have mine, have been halfheartedly looking around to lease my truck onto another carrier-- hate to do it, I feel comfortable here at Swift. Got a load going to Salt Lick City after delivery in El Paso here in a little while-- maybe fate and destiny are telling me something (SLC is one of the elogs install facilities within the company).

The elogs themselves are not that bad. They do save you some drive time and from having to do math at 4am. Also one less thing to make a mistake on and have dot give you a ticket. My mentor got a warning for spelling a city wrong when I was on her truck, can't have that problem with elogs. You just have to be on top of your trip planning, that has always been a strong point for me though. I did go over my 14 by 10 minutes once on them bobtailing home I got stuck in a 10 mile backup on I80. I just sent a message explaining what happened and not a word has been said to me about it.

I thought that once you were driving home, after leaving your last stop or terminal, you were basically 'off duty' and using the truck as a personal vehicle.
That is how my mentor did it, and how I do it.
On e-logs I log out of the system for the duration of my home time, then log back on before I start driving to a 'job' destination. -
What you are saying is correct as far as FMCSA is concerned but Swift policy for company drivers is no personal conveyance, if your driving the truck you have to log it. Lease ops and o/o do have that option and there should be a off duty - driving option for them. They probably let me slide because its not technically a violation as far as the feds are concerned I guess. Usually doesn't bug me since I get a restart while off anyways so I could care less about the hours.

Still no elogs in Girly. I was told the unit will be installed at the Grandview terminal, but they haven't gotten a round tuit yet. 'S-ok with me. I do just fine on paper.

Oh you'll love it ... makes your coffee, folds your clothes and sings you a lullaby to put you to sleep at night.

Well, WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO BEFORE???

Got a warning today because I didn't send in my logs from the end of November when my truck was turned in and I was logged out of the system. Forgot you still need to be writing them out and sending them in no matter what.
