CR England does not set policy for Swift.

I think somebody in Safety is misinterpretting off duty driving. I will definitely be looking into that.

I do realize that, but most mainstream carriers are the same. You have more freedoms as a O/O or a IC than you do as a company driver. You can spec a IC or O/O truck all you want, but you cant spec a company truck.

    *EDIT*

If not, I will gladly put my foot in my mouth. But I'm pretty sure the mainstream carriers give you more options as a IC or O/O. It wouldn't hurt to ask anyway. Next time you go to a company terminal, ask a mechanic.

Scotty, my truck came with already installed, and yes, they did drill holes, and it is placed right over the 4 far right gauges. So much for putting in a drive axle weight gauge

How many "mainstream" carriers have you actually worked for? Whats the basis for your opinion? For that matter how many different companies with in any given industry have you worked for?

I've worked for both CRE and Swift. All big carriers are the same BS is part of the CRE ethos. It rationalizes thier dysfunctional management.

Now to your direct response. Horizon allows more latitude than IEL does as for as what you can physically do to your truck ... see different companies, different leases and different rules.

On the flip side Swift has a significantly better compensation structure, better infastructure, better support systems, a more professional management team and allows L/Os more financial and operational flexibilty to run thier business than CRE does.

CRE has couple of nice programs that Swift doesn't. The relief driver program can help an L/O keep thier truck running. But then again, I'm not sure I would want someone in my truck who can't figure out how to shower on a regular basis.

There's a reason every other company puts Leased to said company on thier door. But CRE puts Operated by CRE on the door - same as a company truck.

    Gotta love it.

    I deliver 11/01 at 0930, PTA set for 1130. It's a live unload.

I get a preplan going to Pittsburg PA, picking up by 10/31 2359.
I turn it down with 2 reasons.
    1. Current load delivers 11/01 0930
    2. Home time request.

Not 2 minutes later that pp is canceled and I get another.

This one is going to MN where I want my home time, t-calling at the terminal.
But, it also picks up by 2359 on 10/31.

So I turn it down, stating that I can pu 11/01 at 1400.
    Just got a message that:
Preplan is preloaded, drops at Inver Grove terminal as soon as you can safely get it there.

So does that mean it's ok to pu after the appointed time, without a service failure?

Guess I'll reply and ask point blank, since there is no direct mention of it being ok to pu late.

No service failure to you when you don't get the dispatch until after the p/u time. Take the load and fly!

Well, I like to get all the t's dotted and i's crossed before I accept something like that.

I did get a qc back that yes, I could pick it up after I delivered my current load. Then another qc came through with a new appointment window, which gives me until 1700.

So all is good, and I'm getting home on the day I requested.

    So...
    Gotta love it! :yes2557:

yeah, you just have to love this new system. PU out of PHX, 3 stops, final on 11/1 and at the bottom of the load assignment, says avail to reload, PTA, 10/31 at 1930.

I think that PTA is your current one, not after that load is finished.

Some drivers will refrain from sending in the Macro 10 for fear it will update their PTA. Having one like yours, (day behind or more) is worth gold lol. I've called in before and the FM has set my PTA about 2 days prior in order to move my truck to the front of the line.
