The other day the swift route from Lyons, NY to Mendota, IL was to take I-90 to I-390 to I-86 and then accross to I-90/80, and then in IN, take IN 49 to 94 and back to I-80. The GPS, I-90/80 the whole way. Ten miles farther than paid miles.

They are trying to get you to dodge the tolls that why the goofy route. From the Albany area one time it wanted me to go down 88 to 390 back to 90. It was something like 90-100 miles longer, more mountainous and would save about $35 in tolls. Needless to say I ignored that suggestion.

I also ingnored it. The extra fuel that it would have cost me, to save about about $15 in tolls, was not happening.

^^^ Most of them. There are a few out there that aren't covered. South Carolina tolls just got covered a couple of months ago.

    In other words, bang on.

I'll nrver complain about 10 miles.

It's those 640 'miles paid' runs that end up being 736 miles that really get my goat.

Whenever they route me to dodge the tolls it always end up using more fuel, since tolls are one flat rate for the week I just run the toll road. Especially indiana the love sending you on hwy 20 then get back on I-80 in ohio. I just run 80 across.

Nearest elog install for you would be Salty Lick City. OOIDA and FMCSA are arguing back and forth about elogs legality now.
For those who do have the new elogs but need the class, the next 3 Saturdays ALL terminals will be holding the group logs classes for you.
