With mega companies I would worry about how many miles I receive rather then how many miles I should do a day.It would be nice with 500 t0 600 miles a day but so many drivers are waiting for loads or get a short run of say 400 miles and have 3 days to get it there. Also you have the loading and unloading wait times terminal wait times and brk down wait times. Many issues to factor in.
Arkansas Frost and KF7WTV Thank this. -
Back in 84-85 I used to haul shortening from 35th st in Chicago to Martin Brower in Kissimmee Fl .
Load it in the morning and drop it the next morning ! It was something like 1190 miles .
That was when it was 55 MPH nation wide too !!!
Then we ran over to Dunedin Fl loaded Orange juice right back to Perlman Roque in Lemont Il and drop the next day !
We were McDonalds fedex back in the day we delivered over night From almost anywhere .
The one I hated most was Dunedin fl to Ayer mass overnight that was a killer !!!
I think it was about 1300 miles and the traffic SUCKED on 95 even back then !!! -
The wife and I knock out 1200 every 24 hours on average.
Truck set at 65mph.
I get the odd 750 mph day, because the EOBR counts from midnight to midnight.
You'll only get these miles running 100% drop and hook, and left foot closed.KW Cajun Thanks this. -

Back before all the electronic checking of everything we do... I would leave Edison, NJ every Friday afternoon, deliver Irvine, Ca, Drop and hook in Ontario, Ca. then back to Edison by wed late night, home thurs and do it again on Friday, approx. 2800 each way... triple digit trucks, medium weight loads and lots of throw away books... err.... log books... Today??? would be impossible to maintain because everything we do is monitored beyond belief.... Teaming with wife we would consistently do 6500 week, lots of D&H though...

I'm on paper, in a 77 mph truck. I can do Denver to Cactus, Tx. and back in 14 hrs, 777 miles rnd trip plus loading and a breakfast and lunch break, avg. 70 mph on 65 mph roads. Most we can legally log for an 11 hr driving day 790 miles.
